For more than 50 years, Accredited Supports to the Community (ASC), a not-for-profit charitable society, has been providing services across south central Alberta.We serve over 1500 people a year including children, youth, and adults diagnosed with disabilities, families, and seniors in Olds, Airdrie, Strathmore, and surrounding areas.

Position Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with leadership and staff across our various programs, the Director of Human Resources is a vital role that supports the mission and values of ASC by fostering a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace. This position is responsible for shaping and guiding the organization's HR strategy, practice, and culture, as well as manage a broad range of HR functions that contribute to the overall health and effectiveness of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership by advising on key HR deliverables including workforce planning, leadership development, and succession planning;
  • Design, implement, and continuously refine HR policies and practices to ensure alignment with ASC’s strategic objectives, Alberta Employment Standards and ASC’s Accreditation Standards;
  • Lead full cycle recruitment and onboarding for salaried and hourly employees ensuring a seamless candidate experience from initial contact through to orientation and team integration;
  • Provide guidance to managers on HR related issues and best practices to maintain business continuity and an equitable employee experience;
  • Design, support and maintain performance management procedures and promote professional development and training opportunities to optimize workforce performance;
  • Oversee employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution and coaching to cultivate an inclusive and supportive workplace culture;
  • Manage HR administration activities, and ensure all HR records are maintained accurately, securely and in compliance with confidentiality standards;
  • Administer employee benefit programs and EFAP, ensuring timely, effective, and inclusive support for employees and their families;
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture, fostering employee engagement, and addressing issues that impact morale;
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives across the organization by identifying and implementing innovated approaches to enhance organizational culture.

Education and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field;
  • Minimum of 7 years progressive HR experience, preferably in a not for profit setting;
  • CPHR designation is an asset;
  • Knowledge of HR best practices and Alberta Employment standards;
  • Experience developing systems, scaling HR functions, and supporting organizational growth;
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging;
  • Familiarity with benefit administration and HRIS platforms;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Willingness to travel to Airdrie and Strathmore on occasion.
