Our client, a leader in the maritime transportation industry, is seeking an HR professional to support a wide range of human resources functions for both shipboard and shoreside employees. This role will be involved in HRIS management, pension and benefits administration, employee engagement programs, recruitment, and onboarding activities. This role is a full time, permanent position with expectations of working 3 days a week onsite in St Catherine's, ON.

Responsibilities
Manage and update electronic HR records for shore-based employees using the HRIS system, including maintaining the employee self-service platform.

Maintain and revise HR-related documentation such as seating plans, org charts, job profiles, employee handbooks, and departmental guides.

Oversee employee appreciation programs, including long-service and retirement awards, and manage inventory and distribution for the company’s branded merchandise store.

Administer group benefits plans, handling employee inquiries, processing invoices, managing enrolments and changes, and liaising with vendors and internal departments.

Support the administration of various pension plans by processing retirements and survivor claims, preparing annual statements, coordinating audits, and submitting regulatory reports.

Manage the company's corporate scholarship program from application through to award distribution.

Organize and support community engagement efforts through the internal Community Involvement Committee.

Provide assistance to the Recruitment and Communications teams as needed.

Take part in additional HR projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications
ost-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field; a graduate-level HR Management certificate is considered an asset.

Designations such as CEBS or CEB are preferred.

3–5 years of broad HR experience, ideally in a generalist capacity.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, and organize workload efficiently.

Proactive problem-solver with a focus on streamlining processes.

Skilled at fostering productive relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
