Job summary

CBI Home Health in Winnipeg, MB is hiring Home Support Workers who can communicate fluently in Russian. You will assist with general household tasks, support clients to maintain independence, and observe changes in their condition to report to the Client Care Manager.

Qualifications

• CPR & First Aid certification
• Good oral and written communication skills in English: the ability to speak Russian fluently is required
• Driver's license and access to a vehicle for each shift
• Adult and Child Abuse Registry Checks completed within the last 6 months
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search completed within the last 6 months
• TB Test completed within the last 12 months

Responsibilities

• Assist with general household management including light housekeeping, shopping, meal planning and preparation
• Encourage the Client in maintaining independence by supporting them to maintain a clean home
• Observe, document and report any emotional or physical changes to the Client Care Manager/Supervisor
• Ensure safety in the home environment and follow Occupational Health & Safety Act requirements

What you will do

• Assist with general household management including light housekeeping duties, shopping, meal planning and preparation (recognizing any diet restrictions that may apply).
• Encourage the Client in maintaining independence by supporting them to maintain a clean home.
• Observe, document and report any emotional or physical changes noted in the Client’s condition to the Client Care Manager/Supervisor.
• Be conscience of the hazards in the home environment and to act accordingly in meeting the safety and protection needs of the Client. In keeping with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Homemaker will take every reasonable precaution to ensure that the workplace is safe.

What you will need to be successful

• CPR & First Aid certification
• Good oral and written communication skills in English: the ability to speak Russian fluently is required.
• Driver's license and access to a vehicle that you will be able to use for each shift.
• Adult and Child Abuse Registry Checks completed within the last 6 months – it is important to apply early as they can take quite some time to obtain. ( https://web.gov.mb.ca/AbuseRegistry )
• Clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Search completed within the last 6 months and is from the Winnipeg Police
• Standard or Intermediate First Aide and CPR Level C
• TB Test completed within the last 12 months
