Job summary

CBI Home Health is hiring a Personal Support Worker in Toronto, Ontario to assist clients at home and in the community. You will deliver compassionate personal care, help with mobility, and support families with care plans and documentation.

The role requires a PSW certificate, valid First Aid/CPR, and a clear vulnerable-senior screening. Weekends are required; driving is an asset. Competitive hourly wages are offered along with total rewards and benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certificate.
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 12 months.
• TB test within the last 12 months and up-to-date immunization record.
• Ability to travel between homes in the community.
• Commitment to work every other weekend, min 5 hours both Saturday and Sunday.
• Strong English communication; French or other languages are an asset.
• Driver’s license, vehicle insurance and access to a reliable vehicle are assets.
• Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs (16 kg).

Responsibilities

• Support clients to be safe and independent in their homes, helping them live their best lives.
• Provide personal care to clients in their home and assist with light exercises.
• Observe, document and report changes in condition to the Manager/Supervisor.
• May perform light housekeeping tasks per client care plans.

CBI Home Health is looking to hire Personal Support Workers to work in either Downtown Toronto, Etobicoke or North York region.

Compensation Range: The hourly rate for this position is $22.89 to $24.63 per hour.

What you will do

• As a caring, responsible health care team member, you will support clients to be as safe and independent in their homes as possible, helping them to live their best lives.
• You will provide personal care to clients in their home, and may assist them to mobilize and perform light exercises.
• You will act at all times with the client and their family at the heart of all you do, observing, documenting, and reporting any changes in their condition to your Manager/Supervisor.
• You may be required to perform light housekeeping tasks as indicated in client care plans.

What you will need to be successful:

• Your Personal Support Worker Certificate or equivalent
  • Equivalencies: Health Care Aid, Developmental Support Worker; Internationally Trained Registered Nurse/ Registered Practical Nurse (RN/ RPN) or Midwife, and/ or students currently enrolled post 1st year in Nursing in Ontario.
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certificate
• A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 12 months
• Proof of a negative TB test within the last 12 months and an up-to-date immunization record
• Ability to travel from home to home within the community
• Commitment to work every other weekend, minimum 5 hours both Saturday and Sunday
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills required; the ability to communicate in French or other languages is considered an asset
• A valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and access to a reliable vehicle is considered an asset.
• Reliability and strong organizational skills
• Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs. (16 kg)
