The Opportunity

We're looking for the Wavemakers of tomorrow.

Alphawave Semi enables tomorrow’s future by accelerating the critical data communication at the heart of our digital world – from seamless video streaming to AI to the metaverse and much more. Our technology powers product innovation in the most data-demanding industries today, including data centers, networking, storage, artificial intelligence, 5G wireless infrastructure, and autonomous vehicles. Customers partner with us for mission-critical data communication, our innovative technologies, and our proven track record. Together, we enable the next generation of digital technology.

The High-Speed Interfaces Silicon Validation team is looking for an individual to join our team to support the silicon lab validation activities for our ultra-high-speed (100Gbps+) network communication devices. Be part of a fast moving, enthusiastic, and dynamic team made up of validation, application, system, and mixed signal design engineers. You will have the opportunity to work to further develop and enhance your statistical data analysis capabilities in addition to working on bleeding edge semiconductor technology.

Position Overview

In this role as a Product Engineer, you will be working in a team environment validating and characterizing the next generation of ultra-high-speed interfaces, referred to Serial - De-serializer (SerDes) transceivers in System-on-Chip (SOC) designs for electrical and optical applications. You will be responsible for characterization activities, including parsing and analyzing data, analyzing and correlating Fab Wafer Acceptance Test (WAT) data to custom device process monitors, creating and implementing Design of Experiments (DOE) and Gauge R&R activities, as well as writing validation reports on functionality and performance of the device. Additional responsibilities will include interfacing with the ATE test engineers to acquire production test data and correlate these results to validation data. This will be used to relay back to the design team on effectiveness of design and suggest improvements to future designs. General requirements will be provided, however, you will be highly encouraged to impart your analytical thinking, statistical analysis, and programming creativity. It is important to us to get your fresh perspective and thinking on what we do on a regular basis.

What You Will Do

  • You will be involved with the electrical and/or optical characterization activities of these devices, including analyzing and reporting on key electrical/optical performance metrics
  • Developing Python scripts and routines for data analysis report automation
  • Collaborate with analog/digital/system engineering teams to understand test requirements / methodologies to aid in the analysis and report on the key results
  • Understand requirements for SerDes compliance testing across all applicable standards such as IEEE 802.3, OIF, and applicable MSAs for the purpose of reporting on key findings against these standards
  • Timely delivery of test reports and presentations
  • Provide regular project status communication
  • Develop/improve/align to team best test practices

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of statistical data analysis in the semiconductor industry
  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices and processes
  • Programming experience with Python and GIT for the purpose of automation, and software version control, particularly in the development of statistical analytical toolsets
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gauge R&R) is an asset

It Would Be Amazing If You Had

  • Experience with SAS JMP
  • Database knowledge / experience
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and/or optical test methodologies
  • Understanding of SerDes architecture and theory of operation: PLL, CDR, CTLE, ADC, FFE, DFE, TX drivers, NRZ/PAM4 encoding, FEC, etc.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity concepts

We have a flexible work environment to support and help employees thrive in personal and professional capacities.

You'll also be eligible for competitive benefits described as per below:
