About the role:

The HSEC Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the operation, maintenance, and surveillance of the Brenda mine site, reporting directly to the Site Manager. This position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and documentation of Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) systems, ensuring they are robust and aligned with corporate and regulatory standards. The coordinator will actively contribute to risk assessment and mitigation efforts, helping to identify and address potential hazards before they affect the site’s operations. A key part of the role is ensuring ongoing compliance with both corporate and jurisdictional requirements, while also fostering a culture of adherence to these standards by all personnel on-site. The HSEC Coordinator will also work closely with the HSEC team to promote a safe, sustainable, and legally compliant working environment at all times.

Key duties involve:
  • Responsible for managing and organizing Health, Safety, and Risk data, and maintaining Health, Safety, and Risk database systems for the Brenda mine site.
  • Preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual reports to meet external regulatory and internal Glencore policy and standard reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the relevant HSEC training programs in accordance with policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, etc.
  • Participate in and support the advancement of HSEC and Risk-related projects and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate leadership as it pertains to HSEC and provide support to the NACS HSEC Team to meet site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain the environmental data management system and assist with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Perform inspections on site infrastructure, including water management facilities (diversion channel and collection systems) and the tailings management facility.
  • Complete environmental sampling of water (surface and groundwater).
  • Maintain site documents, such as Environmental, Health, and Safety-related documents, management plans, and site Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors performing maintenance on the property, mechanical systems at the WTP, and site infrastructure.
  • Support relationships with key stakeholders [First Nations, Communities, Local and Provincial Regulators].
  • Support the operation of the water treatment plant.
  • Ensure that process-related equipment and instruments are cleaned and calibrated.
  • Manage small-scale projects related to operations, maintenance, and surveillance.
Skills and competencies:
  • Post-Secondary degree in the field of Health, Safety and Risk, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or Geoscience.
  • Three years or more of relevant work, co-op or research experience with technical reporting, systems or operating procedures document development, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of HSEC regulations, process control, mine reclamation and tailings facilities considered an asset.
  • Strong written communication and computer skills with advanced skills in Word, Excel and functional operational systems are a must.
  • Interest in learning industrial operations, especially water management, pumping and treatment, being a strong asset.
  • Ability to work safely at a remote site including outdoors in all seasons.
  • Ability to be scheduled on-call 12-months of the year.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Fluency in English is required.
