HSE Representative (High Rise & ICI) – Permanent – 2768 Whitby, ON

About the Opportunity

Parker Huggett has a longstanding partnership with an established general contractor that specializes in various projects, including high-rise new builds, ICI new constructions, renovations, and fit-ups. With offices in Mississauga, Ottawa, and Calgary, they are a growing mid-sized contractor seeking an experienced HSE coordinator to manage a project in Whitby, with the potential to oversee all GTA projects from an HSE perspective.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) guidelines
  • Ensure all workers and visitors receive site safety orientations, including reviewing safety plans, hazard identifications, and emergency procedures
  • Verify that workers have necessary training for their tasks
  • Escort visitors lacking relevant training certificates on site
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce corrective actions
  • Complete weekly site inspection reports and address any deficiencies
  • Maintain and update safety data sheets
  • Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Report incidents/injuries to the Safety Manager
  • Assist in rescue operations and provide first aid as needed
  • Manage daily administration of site Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)
  • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and informational sessions
  • Support the administration of the company’s COR program
  • Keep management informed about safety issues
  • Co-chair and document joint health and safety meetings
  • Chair the Workers’ Trades Committee meetings
  • Perform duties as the site Safety Representative
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years of health and safety experience in the construction industry, specifically in high-rise projects
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience in HSE
  • Knowledge of Ontario H&S Acts and Regulations
  • Incident investigation training or experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
