Job summary

ANDRITZ Canada is seeking a Site HSE Coordinator to support the HSE team across Canada. You will work with Project Managers and Installation Coordinators to ensure safe on-site execution, develop procedures, and maintain compliance with company standards and government regulations.

The role blends office planning with field work, requires at least five years in HSE, a health and safety degree, strong communication, auditing, and training skills, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an active HSE position
  • University degree in Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Construction Safety Regulations
  • Experience in dealing with unionized environments
  • Experience on construction sites; hydro power plant is a plus

Job description

The Site HSE Coordinator is supporting all functions of the HSE team from bidding, preparation, drafting procedures and plans as well as active support on the execution of construction projects across Canada. The incumbent will support our teams in ensuring a safe work environment for all. They will be working as part of a project team of Project Manager, Installation Coordinators, Commercial Manager etc. The role is a mix of office planning and preparation of documentation for the work and, on site work to ensure full compliance of projects.

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team.

  • Ensures fulfillment of HSE requirements at construction site, following health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plan in compliance with Company standards, customer requirements and Government regulations;
  • Supports Site team for HSE management and safety instructions implementation for our workers and partners;

Below, are listed the principal duties for this role:

  • Support the implementation of the HSE Management System on all projects and across all departments within the organization
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare weekly and monthly statistics HSE reports;
  • Provides assistance in identification of risks and definition of control measures (through safe work procedure, Job Safety Analysis);
  • Carries out and records regular safety checks and safety inspections across the project portfolio;
  • Provides assistance in preparing Weekly Safety Meetings, HSE Bulletins, Focus initiatives;
  • Supports the investigation of accidents and incidents; performs Root Cause Analysis on HSE issues;
  • Provides introduction training and site specific health, safety, and environmental training;
  • Coordinates required safety training for project sites (as applicable);
  • Prepares and coordinates emergency and rescue drills, First Aid, Confined Space, Emergency Preparedness and Fire Protection programs;
  • Proposes immediate correction of a HSE deficiency; checks if HSE corrections from deficiency are effective;
  • Ensures OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and COR programs are maintained at site;
  • Support execution of internal audits in construction sites and facilities and coordinate external audits;
  • Coordinates with Workers Compensation as required;
  • Collaborates with Site HSE Officer as applicable
  • Collaborates with HSE Operations Manager for business update on HSE Management System.
