OUR CLIENT :
Our construction client is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager to support their operational safety needs and collaborate across all organizational levels. Based in London, this role will champion safety requirements using best practices and procedures. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and interpersonal skills that inspire a safety-driven culture and enhance the working environment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE :
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as an HSE Manager, including 3+ years in construction.
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Science.
- Certified as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Certified as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO).
- Knowledge of Ontario OHSA, WSIB processes, COR certification, and ISO 14001 standards.
- Understanding of provincial and federal HSE standards.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems and HSE software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Create and implement policies, programs, and processes to improve HSE performance across divisions.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of HSE programs, including hazard assessments, risk mitigation, and incident management.
- Develop and mentor high-performing teams through training and coaching.
- Maintain an HSE management system aligned with corporate objectives.
- Manage the Quality Management System, ensuring its integration with HSE programs and compliance with ISO 14001 standards.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with ISO 14001, OSHA, and maintain COR certification.
- Follow up on audit findings to address gaps and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Ensure adherence to all provincial and federal safety standards.
- Develop safety programs to ensure staff and contractors are trained in hazard identification, emergency procedures, and PPE use.
- Serve as the key advisor on health, safety, and environmental matters.
- Analyze HSE data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with HSE Coordinators and division leaders to implement strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of HSE performance, audits, incidents, and compliance.
- Develop reporting systems to track safety indicators and communicate performance to leadership.
