Canem Systems is seeking a proactive HSE Field Coordinator (Electrical) to join our on-site team in Red Deer, AB. This field-based role (80% site time) focuses on coordinating safety procedures, training, inspections, and incident response across commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of HSE experience, a Journeyman Electrician certificate, and strong knowledge of safety laws, lockout/tagout, and toolbox talks.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Health, Safety, and Environment experience.
  • Journeyman Electrician certificate.
  • Knowledge of isolations and lockout.
  • Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial construction.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal safety laws and standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HSE platforms.
  • Valid AB Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, monitor and assess safety procedures on projects.
  • Coordinate and facilitate safety training for project personnel.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety inspections across sites.
  • Support incident investigations and reporting, including health, safety, environment, and property damage cases.
  • Audit and inspect projects and report findings to the project supervisor.
  • Oversee subcontractor HSE obligations and lead by example in safety excellence.

The HSE Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and assessing the procedures, protocols and practices that relate to safety on a project. This includes responsibilities for ensuring implementation, training and understanding of safety procedures, protocols and employee safety through compliance with all corporate, local, provincial and federal workplace laws, rules and regulations. The HSE field Coordinator reports directly to the Regional Lead, HSE with oversight by branch management. This is a field-based position (80% field time) based on a project site in Red Deer, AB.# **What You Will Be Working On*** Assessing and maintaining worksite safety, environmental, hazard assessment and Occupational Health and Safety standards, procedures and protocols and ensuring that compliance with all local, provincial, and federal laws, rules and regulations are being maintained. This includes the creation and implementation of safety procedures and policies as necessary.* Coordination and facilitation of training for project personnel in all safety related programs e.g.: Site orientations, WHMIS, equipment operation, fall protection, first aid, and forklift training, etc.* Participation and monitoring the quality and effectiveness of toolbox meetings, training sessions, safety inspections.* Participation in task pre-planning and supporting the project team in the safe execution of work.* Conducting on site orientation, monitoring onsite procedures and work processes, developing safe work practices and procedures with site personnel, maintaining safety information and records.# **What We Are Looking For*** 3+ years of dedicated Health, Safety, and Environment experience.* Journey Electrician certificate.* Extensive knowledge of isolations and lockout.* Previous experience with residential, commercial, or industrial construction.* Excellent knowledge of local, provincial, and federal safety laws, rules and regulations Occupational Health and Safety standards, procedures, and protocols.* Proficiency and knowledge in computer programs including Microsoft suite and other HSE platforms.* Positive, self-motivated and team attitude.* Outstanding people and leadership skills.* Excellent time management skills, organizational abilities, and keen attention to detail.* Excellent problem-solving and planning abilities.* Excellent knowledge of construction industry, practices, and standards.* Strong verbal and written communication skills.* Valid AB Driver’s License* Support incident investigation/report including health, safety, environment, medical, first aid cases, and damage to property or equipment and verify that corrective action has been completed.* Conducting audits and inspections of projects and providing assessment to project supervisor.* Providing leadership and positive motivation for project staff and company partners by acting as a responsible and goal-oriented team player and leading by example in achieving excellence and being accountable for results and outcomes.* Subcontractor HSE obligation oversight and compliance.
