About the Role

Reporting to the Senior HSE Coordinator, the HSE Coordinator is responsible for HSE on a project and can support multiple projects as a floating role. The incumbent is also responsible for monthly/weekly reporting, supporting operations in the day-to-day functions of the HSE MS, and leading and lagging safety indicators to the RSM, Director, and Corporate.

This role will initially support an industrial project in Fort Saskatchewan, AB that will last for the next 2 years. This position will be fully site-based with a schedule of 4 10-hour shifts, 1 8-hour shift, and overtime as required.

As a HSE Coordinator at Graham you will:

  • Take responsibility for own health, safety, and environmental protection, as well as that of direct reports, the public, and visitors to the site(s)
  • Conduct project-specific safety orientation with all workers and visitors new to the worksite prior to commencement of work on the project
  • Confirm that equipment inspections, preparation of reports, and follow-up on all noted deficiencies are completed
  • Report any noncompliant conditions to the responsible project Superintendent/Supervisor
  • Assist in BBS assessments, when required
  • Confirm through inspections that controlled products supplied to projects are accompanied by a corresponding current SDS/MSDS, and other documentation as required by local government regulations
  • Confirm through observations that the ERP and other related emergency documents, bulletins, and notices are posted and communicated to workers
  • Attend and participate in HSE meetings
  • Review incident reports and maintain monthly statistics to identify undesirable trends
  • Conduct project inspections with the project Superintendent and worker to support hazard identification
  • Arrange or conduct HSE training for workers and Supervisors

Qualifications / Experience

  • High school graduation and completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school
  • Certification in Health and Safety, or a safety designation is required (NCSO, OH&S, etc.)
  • 4-5 years of experience in safety or a related field
  • Understanding of how HSE MS systems work
  • Understanding of general constructability
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and online reporting software
