Introduction:

We are seeking a HSE Coordinatorto join our Services team. You will be responsible for providing HSE support to Management, supervisors and workers assigned on field projects within Metso. Specializing in delivering the occupational HSE program on field project. Ensure the HSE performances of our operations complies with local and Metso standards through proactive implementation of systems, education, and training of personnel. In this position, you will report to the Manager, Professional Services.

This position is mainly located in Greater Sudbury or Greater Montreal, Canada. However, it involves up to 75% of travel to customer sites inside of Canada.

You will join a team of experts on turnkey projects within the services group dedicated to offering the customer turnkey solutions for their shutdowns.


We work closely with the field services group and external contractors. Our team culture is all about providing solutions, and getting things done. The members in our team are in Canada.


What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with the Professional Services team to implement the Metso HSE program during turnkey project execution.
  • Partner with field Project Managers to ensure all local and customer safety requirements are met on projects.
  • Create comprehensive project risk assessments with the field service team.
  • Prepare detailed field project reports highlighting current HSE activities.
  • Engage in customer discussions on HSE matters.
  • Conduct regular internal audits on projects to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate and report all accidents/incidents, ensuring thorough follow-up and documentation.
  • Manage permits to work, non-compliances, statistics, and safety indicators.
  • Promote a high safety culture within the team.
  • Understand and address clients’ HSE requirements, offering tailored solutions for optimal project outcomes.
  • Maintain positive customer relations through effective communication and service.
  • Ensure full compliance with current safety, health, and environmental legislation.
  • Communicate effectively in French and English, both verbally and in writing, adapting to the audience’s needs.
  • Implement preventative procedures to minimize risk to all employees.
  • Update and ensure compliance with HSE standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to policy and procedure development, sometimes with specialist support.
  • Evaluate contractors and suppliers from an HSE perspective.
  • Analyze operational risks before work begins.
  • Work towards a zero-accident target by analyzing all accidents and incidents.

Who You Are:

  • Experienced professional in a relevant field.
  • Educational background in safety, engineering, or a related field (Associate Degree/Diploma/Bachelor’s).
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian and provincial OHS legislation.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficient in computer skills, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Highly motivated and focused, with the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Proven history of providing HSE strategies.
  • Willingness to travel domestically within Canada, up to 75% of the time.
  • High interpersonal skills to coordinate internal and external issues effectively.
