Job summary

ALS, a global leader in scientific testing and data-driven insights, is seeking an HSE Coordinator to strengthen our safety culture across locations in Canada. The role partners with operational leaders to integrate HSE requirements into daily activities, conducts risk assessments, and supports audits and investigations to drive continuous HSE improvement.

The successful candidate will maintain records, develop action plans, and lead risk-reduction initiatives while traveling to sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage key elements of the ALS Geochemistry HSE Management System across locations and operations.
  • Partner with leaders to integrate HSE requirements into daily activities and decisions.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments; recommend practical controls and verify effectiveness.
  • Provide practical guidance based on technical expertise and audits.
  • Coordinate HSE management reviews and assist with audits and reports.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain records of incidents, investigations and actions.
  • Develop and monitor action plans to sustain compliance with legislation and ALS standards.
  • Lead projects and risk-reduction initiatives to strengthen safety programs.
  • Identify emerging risks and improvements; work with teams to implement actions.
  • Maintain visible field presence and travel to sites as required.

This role will be a visible and trusted partner to operational leaders, supervisors and employees, integrating HSE requirements into daily operations, promoting proactive risk management and supporting consistent implementation of the ALS Geochemistry HSE Management System. Through strong field presence, communication and practical guidance, you will promote safe behaviors, leadership accountability and continuous HSE improvement.Key Responsibilities:Manage key elements of the ALS Geochemistry HSE Management System across assigned locations and operations, promoting consistent implementation and continual improvement.Partner with operational leaders, supervisors and employees to integrate HSE requirements into day-to-day activities and decision-making.Conduct and review risk assessments, recommend practical and sustainable controls, and verify that control measures are implemented and effective.Provide practical guidance based on technical expertise, audit findings, operational risks, internal procedures and applicable legal requirements.Coordinate HSE management reviews and support the preparation of audits, performance reports and other HSE documentation.Support incident and near-miss investigations by identifying immediate, contributing and root causes and assisting with the development of effective corrective actions.Maintain accurate and timely records of incidents, near misses, investigation findings, corrective actions and HSE performance.Develop, implement and monitor action plans to support sustained compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements and ALS standards.Lead projects and risk-reduction initiatives that strengthen HSE programs, operational controls and overall safety performance.Identify emerging safety risks, recurring trends and improvement opportunities and work with operational teams to implement and sustain appropriate actions.Maintain a visible field presence and travel to operational sites as required.What You Bring:A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence.Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy and focus.A proven ability to manage priorities, meet performance targets and deliver work within established deadlines.The ability to learn quickly and consistently apply new processes, procedures and requirements.Strong initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing operational priorities and business needs.A collaborative approach and a commitment to contributing to a positive, respectful and high-performing team environment.A proactive mindset, enthusiasm and a high level of self-motivation.Strong computer literacy and the ability to work effectively with digital systems and standard business applications.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.You bring positive energy and a genuine willingness to work alongside production teams to strengthen everyday HSE practices.Our Benefits Include:An estimated annual salary of $70,000 - $80,000 at the time of posting.
