Job description

Your Contribution

As an HSE Advisor reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Tilbury Plant plans and implements actions necessary to protect, maintain, and improve standards aligned with Health, Safety, and Environmental performance.

This Role Is Responsible To
  1. Support ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 planning, procedures, work instructions, and audits.
  2. Perform environment and waste management control, in accordance with ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 procedures and work instructions, including identification, tracking, and reduction of environmental waste and waste costs.
  3. Plan and implement actions necessary to protect, maintain, and improve environmental standards.
  4. Identify the HSE training needs of all employees in cooperation with the Human Resources Department, with respect to legislation and the company’s requirements.
  5. Lead the Emergency Plan, Emergency Response Team, and Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  6. Develop and maintain HSE plant and corporate reports.
  7. Collaborate with all employees, including Management, Engineering, Human Resources, Corporate HSE, Union, and Contractors.
  8. Investigate and implement corrective and preventative actions regarding health and safety incidents.
  9. Conduct safety sign-offs on all new and reworked manufacturing equipment.
  10. Develop and maintain HSE Employee Communication.
  11. Manage Contractor Program and processes.
  12. Report on health, safety, and environmental performance.
  13. Identify, manage, and solve risks or concerns.
  14. Meet legislative requirements (MOL, MOE, WSIB, Municipal Regulations).
  15. Manage workplace injury prevention plans and incidents, including injuries and near misses.
  16. Review WSIB Claims and manage costs, including filing injury reports, identifying appeal issues, and drafting letters of objection.
  17. Ensure compliance with WSIB reporting and regulations, and develop and implement related activities.
Your Experience & Qualifications
  1. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Human Resources, or Business from an accredited 4-year college or university.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience with HSE in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification.
  4. Working knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949.
