Job summary

Sterling Crane Canada is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to be based in Edmonton, AB. This full-time role reports to the Senior Regional Director and focuses on meeting OH&S standards with our team in Canada’s Central Region.

The successful candidate will have 3–5 years of heavy construction safety experience, industry certifications, and the ability to train others. A company vehicle is provided; expect 35% travel within Canada.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience with heavy construction & heavy equipment.
  • OH&S Certificate, CRSP, NCSO or related designation preferable.
  • Knowledge of provincial OH&S legislation.
  • Valid Driver’s license to operate company vehicles.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with FCC and ISNet is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out duties as may be required by the Director, Health and Safety, including workplace investigations and audits.
  • Monitors compliance with the use of in-house databases.
  • Liaises with health and safety regulatory authorities and customers.
  • Trains employees in best practices to ensure safety in day-to-day work.

This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Senior Regional Director. The successful candidate will have a passion for safety, excellent mentoring skills and be a catalyst for change. The HSE Advisor will work closely with our Branch Managers, Supervisors, and operations personnel to meet and exceed provincial OH&S, our Client’s and Sterling Crane’s HSE expectations.JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time salaried employment.LOCATION: Preference for successful applicants to be local to Edmonton region. Site and office work.HOURS: Monday through Friday, within business operating hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM MST (40 hour/week).TRAVEL: 35% travel within Canada and the Central Region.VEHICLE: A Company vehicle will be provided.Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Carries out duties as may be required by the Director, Health and Safety such as workplace investigations and audits.Monitors compliance with the use of in-house databases.Liaises with health and safety regulatory authorities and customers.Trains employees in best practices that will ensure safety while carrying out day-to-day work schedules.Qualifications & Skills:3 – 5 years’ experience with heavy construction & heavy equipment.Preferred candidates will have an OH&S Certificate, a CRSP, NCSO or related designation in addition to field experience in a safety related role.Knowledge on the provincial legislation.Clean Driver’s license sufficient to operate company vehicles.Strong communication & interpersonal skills.Strong computer skills.
