Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions seeks an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support our mining project team on a remote northern British Columbia site. The role is field-based with inspections, audits, incident investigations and coaching for safe work practices.

The position requires underground mining experience, OSHA/MSHA familiarity, and strong communication to coordinate with contractors and operations in a 2x2, 12-hour shift rotation on a remote site.

Qualifications

• Experience in mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
• Underground mining experience is required.
• Experience in health and safety or field safety support role.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Familiarity with OSHA, MSHA, or equivalent regulations.
• Ability to work with contractors and operations teams in a field environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work at remote site on a 2x2, 12-hour shift rotation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Work with contractors to ensure risk management requirements are implemented and critical controls are in place.
• Support incident investigations, including event reporting and root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys).
• Deliver safety coaching and guidance to site personnel, including pre-task hazard assessments and risk assessments.
• Support implementation of site health and safety plans and procedures.
• Contribute to safety programs including incident management, fatality prevention, and health and wellbeing initiatives.
• Provide support to frontline leaders to promote safe work practices and workforce engagement.
• Coordinate safety representative programs and workforce participation initiatives.
• Support safety management systems, including change management processes.
• Assist with compliance and assurance activities related to safety standards and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as required.

TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Advisor, Health & Safety to support our client’s mining project team. This role is focused on field‑based safety support, including inspections, audits, incident investigations, and working closely with operations and contractors to ensure safe execution of work.

This is a site‑based rotational role (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, 12‑hour shifts) located at a remote mining project in Northern British Columbia.

Requirements

• Previous experience in mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments
• Experience in underground mining environment is required.
• Experience working in a health and safety or field safety support role
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, MSHA, or equivalent)
• Understanding of hazard identification and risk assessment processes
• Ability to work with contractors and operations teams in a field environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in both open pit and underground mining environments
• Comfortable working at a remote site on a rotational schedule (2x2, 12‑hour shifts)

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting mining or large construction projects
• Familiarity with safety management systems and compliance processes
• Basic knowledge of reporting, tracking, and safety performance metrics
• Understanding of change management processes
