Job summary

Infracon Construction is seeking an HSE Advisor to support the Highland Valley Copper Mine Site near Logan Lake, BC. This full-time role follows a 14 days on / 7 days off, 10‑hour shifts, with a wage range of $37.00–$41.00 per hour, depending on experience.

You will promote safe work practices and support compliance across a multi-year project through 2027. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, hands-on approach, and the ability to collaborate with supervisors, trades, and the HSE

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Safety, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safe work practices across site operations and support health & safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and support corrective actions.
  • Assist with development/review of JSAs, SWPs, and field-level risk assessments.
  • Maintain an active field presence to monitor compliance and safety culture.

Location: Highland Valley Copper Mine Site (HVC), near Logan Lake, BC
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 14 days on / 7 days off, 10-hour shifts
Wage: $37.00 - $41.00, depending on experience
Reports To: Health & Safety Manager and Project Superintendent

About the Role

Infracon is seeking a proactive and safety‑driven HSE Advisor to support the successful execution of the Site Wide Services Project at Highland Valley Copper (HVC). This multi‑year industrial construction project is expected to continue through the end of 2027 and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to one of Canada's largest mining operations.

As an HSE Advisor, you will support daily field operations by promoting safe work practices, assisting with compliance activities, and helping maintain a strong safety culture across the project. Working closely with supervisors, tradespeople, operators, subcontractors, and the HSE team, this role is ideal for an individual looking to continue developing their safety career in a dynamic industrial construction and mining environment.

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a hands‑on approach to supporting field safety initiatives and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support site operations by promoting safe work practices and assisting with the implementation of project health and safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, field observations, and hazard assessments to identify unsafe conditions and support corrective actions.
  • Assist supervisors and crews with the development and review of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), and field‑level risk assessments.
  • Maintain an active and visible field presence to support workers, monitor compliance, and encourage safe behaviors.
  • Participate in and facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and daily safety communications.
  • Assist with onboarding and site‑specific orientations for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Monitor compliance with PPE requirements and support personnel in the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment.
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, documentation, and follow‑up corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, and project safety statistics.
  • Assist with tracking training certifications, competency requirements, and safety documentation for project personnel.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, including participation in emergency response drills and site readiness activities.
  • Promote environmental and housekeeping standards, including spill prevention, waste management, and site organization.
  • Collaborate with project teams and contractors to support safe coordination of work activities.
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are communicated and understood across all levels of the project team.
  • Support compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen project safety performance and culture.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the Site Wide Services Project.

Experience Required

  • Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Safety, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2‑5 years of health and safety experience in industrial construction, civil construction, mining, or heavy industry environments.
  • Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, occupational health and safety legislation, and industry best practices.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and safe work planning processes.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Experience working within active mining operations or large industrial construction projects is considered an asset.
  • Professional safety designations such as NCSO, CSO, CRSP, or progress toward certification are considered assets.

Required Certifications

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Highland Valley Copper site access requirements
  • Additional client‑specific training and certifications as required

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors in an active mining and industrial construction environment.
  • Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, heavy equipment, and construction activities.
  • Frequent walking on uneven terrain and active work areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
  • Must be able to meet all fitness‑for‑duty and client site access requirements.
