The Advanced Care Paramedic position requires current ACP registration, H2S Alive, a Class 4 driving license and CSTS.

Qualifications

• Current (unrestricted) ACP registration with the applicable provincial licensing body.
• H2S Alive certification.
• Valid, unrestricted Class 4 driver’s license with full driving privileges.
• Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide ALS care to injured workers on-site and coordinate transport to the nearest medical facility.
• Act professionally to protect patient dignity, safety, privacy and confidentiality.
• Work within the ACP scope of practice per NOCP and medical control guidelines.
• Read, understand and comply with safety and medical policies and applicable laws.
• Report to the Station Manager and follow health and safety policies.

The Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) will promptly provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care when summoned, accurately triage patients, offer appropriate medical guidance, and coordinate timely transport to a healthcare facility when necessary.

• Rotation: 2 weeks on/off
• Transportation: Flights are from Edmonton to Norman Wells
• Location: Norman Wells, NT
• Wage: Negotiable

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Act in a professional manner that ensures the patient’s dignity, safety, privacy and confidentiality, and decision-making are maintained
• Provide immediate and professional medical care to injured workers on-site, and to arrange timely transport to the nearest medical care facility
• Read, understand, and comply with DXP | HSE Integrated safety and medical services policies, Workplace Scope of Practice Guidelines, Medical Control Guidelines, as well as all applicable government laws and regulations.
• Work within the ACP scope of practice determined by the National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP), utilizing the DXP | HSE medical control guidelines
• Report to and take direction from the Station Manager for the district in which he/she is working
• Be familiar with and work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
• Perform Respiratory Fit Testing, Audio Testing, Advanced First Aid instruction
• Take reasonable care to use safety and personal protective equipment as required by health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
• Report to HSE Integrated supervision and management immediately any incident or condition believed to be hazardous to worker’s health or safety
• Refuse the work if danger is imminent or not controlled
• Previous industrial medical experience is an asset

You will need to have the following certifications to be considered:

• Current (unrestricted) ACP registration with the applicable provincial licensing body
• H2S Alive
• Valid, unrestricted license with full driving privileges in the province of issue for the specified class of vehicle to be operated on behalf of the company or a higher class of license than that of the vehicle to be operated. (Class 4 driver’s license)
• Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
