Job summary

Ledcor Group of Companies in Canada seeks an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support HS&E programs on pipeline projects. You will work with diverse teams to meet Ledcor’s safety standards on site-based assignments and tailored rotations.

The role requires 5+ years in pipeline HS&E, CRSP/NCSO credential, and strong communication with field staff and management. Travel to various project sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of pipeline HS&E experience.
  • CRSP, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or NCSO designation.
  • Ability to communicate to hourly workforce and management.
  • Proactive safety approach with issue identification and mitigation.
  • Experience in risk assessment, program development, training and investigations.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
  • Pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity in safety matters.
  • Advise operations on the Health and Safety Management System across project lifecycle.
  • Support site leadership with safety meeting material and toolbox talks.
  • Coordinate and deliver toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, and audits.
  • Inspect work areas and ensure availability of safety equipment.
  • Verify compliance with leading/lagging indicators including subcontractors.
  • Conduct HS&E orientation for employees and subs contractors.
  • Develop and update JHAs for project needs and compliance.
  • Audit field-level hazard assessments quality.
  • Assist with occupational hygiene practices and screening programs awareness.
  • Support emergency plans and exercises implementation.
  • Lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis with corrective actions.
  • Participate in incident management and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor and report on effectiveness of HS&E plan implementation.

Description

You are an established Health & Safety Advisor with an extensive pipeline background that includes minimum 5+ years of supporting HS&E pipeline projects.

You will play a key role in the execution and implementation of a diverse range of health and safety programs and can expect to work on challenging pipeline projects with diverse and collaborative teams to meet and exceed Ledcor’s safety standards.

This position is site-based and the specific rotation schedule and project location will be determined based on project requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity when handling sensitive information and workplace matters.
  • Advise operations regarding Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System, based on a solid understanding of program execution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide support to site leadership in the preparation of site-specific material for safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Support the coordination, organization and delivery of project toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Monitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in the coordination and completion of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, and focus audits.
  • Conduct inspections of the work area and meet with field supervisors to discuss any potential problems: help to ensure the adequate supply of safety equipment, such as protective equipment, fire extinguishers, respirators, etc.
  • Verify compliance with leading and lagging indicators, including subcontractors as well as any identified corrective actions.
  • Conduct the HS&E Orientation to employees and subcontractors during project onboarding.
  • Develop and update JHAs based on project needs while maintaining compliance with HSE Programs.
  • Audit the quality of the field level hazard assessments.
  • Assist with the implementation of occupational hygiene practices and have awareness of medical screening programs.
  • Support the development, implementation, and validation of emergency response plans and emergency exercises.
  • Leading incident investigations and determining root causes with effective corrective action development.
  • Participate in incident management processes, case/Injury management, corrective action tracking, and follow-up.
  • Monitor and report on the overall effectiveness of the overall implementation of project HS&E plans.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of related work experience within the pipeline industry.
  • Must hold a CRSP, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or NCSO designation.
  • Has developed technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment within the Pipeline Construction and/or Pipeline Maintenance Industries – experience on mountainous pipeline projects considered an asset.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to provide a proactive approach to safety, to include identification of operational and organizational issues, as well as develop and implement strategies to solve them.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation.
  • Capable of adapting information/style to the audience, explaining difficult information clearly, influencing, and persuading others towards consensus agreement in straightforward situations.
  • A strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing priorities and demands.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer competency including experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver's license and driver's abstract.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements.
Work Conditions:
  • Flexibility to travel to and work at various project sites will be required.
