Job summary

Ledcor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor for a site-based role with rotation determined by project needs. You will lead safety program execution, conduct inspections, and coordinate with field personnel to ensure compliance and equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related work experience in heavy civil, mining, or related industry.
• CRSP / CSO / NCSO designation required.
• Technical knowledge of construction practices and equipment in Pipeline sectors.
• Able to communicate with hourly workforce and management.
• Proactive risk identification and safety program development.
• Experience in safety training and incident investigations.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; MS Word/PowerPoint/Excel proficiency.
• Valid provincial driver’s license and driver's abstract.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol requirements completed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and coordinate with field supervisors to ensure safety equipment availability.
• Advise operations on the Health and Safety Management System across projects.
• Monitor regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
• Coordinate safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, and investigations.
• Verify leading and lagging indicators including subcontractors and corrective actions.
• Deliver HS&E orientation to employees and subcontractors on onboarding.
• Support site leadership with safety meeting materials.
• Develop and update Job Hazard Analyses and Safe Work Practices.
• Monitor overall effectiveness of HS&E plans.
• Audit field hazard assessments and incident reports.
• Assist with occupational hygiene practices and medical screening awareness.

Description

You are an experienced Health & Safety Advisor who consistently conveys professional judgment and can build effective relationships across all levels. You will play a key role in the execution and implementation of a diverse range of health and safety programs and can expect to work on challenging projects with diverse and collaborative teams to meet and exceed Ledcor’s safety standards.

This position is site-based and the specific rotation schedule and project location will be determined based on project requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of the work area and meet with field supervisors to discuss any potential problems: help to ensure the adequate supply of safety equipment, such as protective equipment, fire extinguishers, respirators, etc.
• Advise operations regarding Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System, based on a solid understanding of program execution throughout the project lifecycle
• Monitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements
• Assists in the coordination and completion of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, focus audits and incident investigations
• Verify compliance with leading and lagging indicators, including subcontractors as well as any identified corrective actions
• Conduct the HS&E Orientation to employees and subcontractors during project onboarding
• Provide support to site leadership in the preparation of site-specific material for safety meetings and toolbox talks
• Support the coordination, organization and delivery of project toolbox talks and safety meetings
• Develop and enhance Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents based on existing materials
• Monitor and report on the overall effectiveness of the overall implementation of project HS&E plans
• Audit the quality of the field level hazard assessments and incident investigation reports for accuracy and completeness
• Assist with the implementation of occupational hygiene practices and have awareness of medical screening programs

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related work experience in heavy civil, mining, or related industry
• Must hold a CRSP, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, CSO or NCSO designation
• Has developed technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment within the Pipeline Construction and/or Pipeline Maintenance Industries
• Ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers
• Ability to provide a proactive approach to safety, to include identification of operational and organizational issues, as well as develop and implement strategies to solve them
• Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation
• Capable of adapting information/style to the audience, explaining difficult information clearly, influencing, and persuading others towards consensus agreement in straightforward situations
• A strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing priorities and demands
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Strong computer competency including experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and driver's abstract
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements

Work Conditions

• Flexibility to travel to and work at various project sites will be required

Compensation

$71,200.00 - $97,900.00

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
