The Opportunity:

The Manager HR Services plays a critical role in leading and optimizing HR services to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. This role is responsible for overseeing HR processes, program delivery, policy adherence, compliance, governance, and employee customer service, as well as managing and administering all recognition programs at Maple Leaf Foods. The incumbent is a process driven thinker with strong leadership, problem-solving, and process improvement skills with the goal of achieving high levels of customer satisfaction and the highest quality in client delivery to consistently meet and exceed SLAs and KPIs. They must also have a deep understanding of controls and be capable of efficiently managing processes from end to end.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Lead the HR Service team in delivering high quality HR support, including onboarding, offboarding, SAP administration, and employee lifecycle management.
  • Responsible for the ongoing improvement of the HR Services team. Responsible to effectively lead, manage and develop the team ensuring an integrated approach to service delivery.
  • Oversee HR inquiries and issue resolution, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Develop and refine HR processes to improve efficiency, accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance HR service delivery and address business needs.
  • Gather feedback and drive improvements in HR support and communications.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR Services team to build capabilities and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Set performance goals, provide coaching and drive team engagement.
  • Lead the delivery of education and communication initiatives related to benefits and pension programs.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure smooth administration and employee engagement in these programs.
  • Manage SAP system, ensuring data integrity, security and efficient reporting.
  • Support system implementation, upgrades, and process automation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent cadence of KPIs to track performance and support strategic objectives.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks, providing actionable insights to key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (i.e. payroll) to ensure alignment between business goals and performance metrics.
  • Provide ongoing reporting, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate data insights clearly.
  • Support data-driven decision making by offering recommendations based on analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and oversee compliance audits.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to mitigate risk and uphold HR governance.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance HR service delivery through process optimization and technology.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to improve the employee experience.
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing across HR functions.
  • Manage all recognition programs, including rewards programs and Appreciation Week initiatives and the Annual Values Awards Program and celebratory event.
  • Ensure recognition programs are engaging inclusive and aligned with company values.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and recommend enhancements to drive participation and impact.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain and update policies as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support on policy related matters to employees at all levels.
  • Coordinate and manage the execution of the annual Code of Business Conduct campaigns, driving awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the annual Code of Business Conduct campaigns, making recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Bias for continuous improvement, ability to leverage data and technology to improve outcomes.
  • Knowledge of legislations and laws both in Canada and the US as it relates to employment, pension and benefits.
  • Knowledge of the BMC ticketing system.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in HR operations, shared services or HRIS administration.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, systems and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing HR technology (e.g. SAP, SuccessFactors, Workday, UKG, or other HRIS platforms)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Prior experience with SAP/Success Factors is an asset.
  • Experience with BMC ticketing system for ticketing.
