The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator supports US & Canadian payroll processing, benefits administration, HRIS support, reporting, and employee lifecycle administration while delivering an excellent employee experience.
Position Summary/Purpose:
- Maintain a positive and professional image and always remain diplomatic and tactful, with an understanding of confidentiality in dealing with a variety of issues and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with members of the HR team, providing coverage for other roles and assisting in various projects as needed.
- Promotes HR best practices, evaluates innovative solutions while balancing business needs and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable workplace standards, laws and regulations in the US & Canada.
- Become a subject matter expert for the HRIS Dayforce.
- Understand and be familiar with payroll compliance and standards for US & Canada.
- Manage and incorporate changes to the employee lifecycle, that could be, but not limited to, leaves, transfers, employee changes, STD, LTD, terminations, etc.
- Complete payroll reconciliations by verifying data accuracy, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Support payroll using Dayforce, responding to queries, providing guidance, and escalating issues when appropriate.
- Collaborate with various internal teams as needed to provide various payroll reports, complete end-of-year requirements, and participate in audits as required.
- Administer U.S. & Canadian benefits programs, ensuring accurate enrollment and effective ongoing management internally and with third party provider.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel suite and HRIS systems (Dayforce).
- Experience with Year end.
- Managing WCB accounts in various provinces in Canada and Labour department reporting in multiple states in the US
- Knowledge of current legislation as well as current HR & Payroll trends and best practices.
- Minimum 4 years of experience administering Canadian & U.S. Payroll & benefits.
Qualifications
- Minimum post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field.
- Payroll certification from creditable institution is an asset.
- Must have Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
This position is based in our Calgary office and requires an on-site presence, with a compensation range of CAD $70,000–$80,000 annually.
