Human Resources Manager Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive change agent to join our project team as a Human Resources Manager. The HR Manager will report to the Project Director and will be responsible for recruitment, onboarding, training, and coaching staff to develop a high-performing project team. The role also involves supporting a collaborative and innovative work environment to successfully deliver a major construction project.

This position is site-based in Pickering and may require some time in Mississauga.

What You Will Be Working On

  1. Support the project leadership team by providing advice and guidance on employee relations, recruitment, talent, and performance management.
  2. Develop and implement recruitment strategies and processes to attract and retain quality candidates.
  3. Lead and manage employee orientation and onboarding processes.
  4. Oversee the performance review process, including training managers and employees on Professional Development Reviews (PDRs) and providing ongoing feedback.
  5. Provide advice and support for organizational or departmental restructuring.
  6. Act as the local Administrator and SME on the Human Resource Management System (Workday).
  7. Work with project leadership to foster a positive work environment and support employee engagement.
  8. Support recruitment efforts by posting job openings, participating in interviews, and preparing offer letters and new hire packages.
  9. Champion campus recruitment initiatives.
  10. Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including sign-on, setup, and orientation.
  11. Prepare salary increase letters and other employee documentation as needed.
  12. Maintain employee files and databases, and prepare monthly HR reports.
  13. Assist with special projects and social activities as required.
  14. Provide coaching to team members to resolve conflicts and performance issues.
  15. Perform other duties as required.

  2. Minimum of 8 years of human resources experience in a generalist capacity.
  3. Experience in the construction industry, especially with joint ventures, is an asset.
