JOB DESCRIPTION
The HR/LR Business Partner, with a focus on labour relations, enables the organization to develop its people through effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs within a specific business unit. They are responsible for a broad scope of labour relations issues across the organization, including administering collective agreements, counselling leaders, collaborating with union representatives, investigating workplace issues, and coaching staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage collective agreement terms and advise leaders to ensure effective outcomes.
  2. Work with union representatives to address workplace issues and develop workforce strategies.
  3. Manage grievance processes, participate in arbitrations, and resolve workplace disputes.
  4. Conduct complex workplace investigations and mediations, ensuring proper documentation.
  5. Provide labour relations training and coaching to maintain a harmonious environment.
  6. Participate in labour initiatives, projects, and collective bargaining.
  7. Offer strategic HR advice to employees and managers, building strong relationships.
  8. Support the employee lifecycle from recruitment to departure, serving as a point of contact for HR needs.
  9. Collaborate with HR teams to deliver programs that attract and develop talent, including recruitment, succession planning, and training.
  10. Prepare and deliver employee communications and presentations.
  11. Implement HR projects and ensure organizational alignment.
  12. Utilize HR systems for reporting and data analysis to inform strategic decisions.
  13. Participate in policy improvements to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
  14. Facilitate a safe and respectful workplace through training, investigations, and prevention strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  2. CPHR Designation or eligibility to achieve it.
  3. 5-8 years of experience in Labour Relations and/or HR.
  4. At least 2 years managing collective agreements and working with union representatives.
  5. Experience in various HR functions, including employee engagement, talent management, recruitment, labour relations, performance management, and total rewards.
