A leading company in waste services is seeking an HR Generalist to support the Great Lakes Division. This role focuses on HR initiatives, employee relations, and training, fostering a culture of servant leadership and organizational effectiveness. Ideal candidates will have a degree in HR or Business and 3-5 years of HR experience, including in unionized settings. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, business acumen, and the ability to travel within South Western Ontario.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The HR Generalist will provide pragmatic day-to-day support to the Great Lakes Division leaders and employees, on all Human Resource-related matters. They will drive and implement HR initiatives across the Division to increase organizational effectiveness and positively impact business results. There is a particular emphasis on training and development, coaching, employee relations and retention. As a key member of the team, the HR Generalist supports our Servant Leadership culture while instilling our five key Operating Values: Safety, Integrity, Customer Service, To be a Great Place To Work and to be the Premier Waste Services Company in North America.
As a HR Generalist with us, the responsibilities include:
• Provide Human Resource generalist support throughout the Great Lakes Division
• Partner with the Division leaders and managers to provide strategic and organizational development solutions to Human Resource matters
• Become a trusted business partner with a demonstrated ability to build solid relationships and credibility with the division
• Help facilitate a variety of HR training sessions
• Provide regular coaching and counselling to managers and employees
• Provide interpretation of company policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreements to employees and managers
• Provide support during the collective bargaining process
• Assist in conducting investigations on complaints and grievances
• Assist in all matters of the full cycle of the employment term
• Manage employee documentation via our HRIS
• Support and implement Regional HR programs and initiatives
• Performs other duties as required
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
• University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources, Business or a related field is required
• 3-5 years experience in Human Resources, some experience with unionized environments would be an asset
• Strong collaboration, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Strong business acumen and a continuous improvement mindset
• Availability when required outside of standard business hours such as attending early morning operations and safety meetings
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
• Proven organization, prioritization and planning skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS systems and LMS (learning management systems)
• Proficiency in WorkDay would be an asset
• Drivers License and access to a personal vehicle to travel to various locations within South Western Ontario
• Ability to travel up to 35% of the time
• Completion of all pre-employment requirements, to the satisfaction of the company
