Your Role And Responsibilities
The Human Resources Generalist provides HR and Health Safety & Environmental (HS&E) support to managers and employees to meet divisional and corporate objectives. Responsibilities include transactional HR and HSE functions, working closely with the HR Director, HS&E Manager, and management team.
Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between Corporate HR, HS&E, and employees.
- Assist with discipline, investigations, incident or termination meetings, coaching, and disciplinary measures.
- Conduct full-cycle recruitment for hourly and skilled trade positions and manage manpower utilization.
- Facilitate training and development programs, maintain training records.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Respond to HR and HS&E inquiries from employees and managers.
- Handle administrative duties such as file maintenance, training records, and attendance tracking.
- Stay current on company policies and employment legislation, advising managers as needed.
- Assist with employee benefits inquiries.
- Participate in employee performance programs and ensure KPI updates.
- Support employee engagement and retention initiatives.
- Implement HR programs provided through corporate.
- Create safety reports and support RTW WSIB claims.
- Conduct hazard identification, coordinate emergency procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
- Minimum three years' HR experience
- College diploma/certificate in HR or equivalent
- Experience with relevant legislation (Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, etc.)
Additional Technical and Professional Requirements
- CHRP designation or commitment to obtain it
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong listening skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and interact positively with internal and external stakeholders
