Human Resources Generalist (Contract)

Who We Are

Located in downtown Toronto, Podium Developments is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our Head Office team!

Since its founding in 2005, Podium Developments has a successful track record of entitling, developing and constructing new mixed-use residential buildings in urban infill locations, often near major educational institutions. As a vertically integrated development, construction and asset management business, Podium applies and leverages all business lenses together to produce successful projects, from conception, to delivery, and management beyond. Podium is a collaboration of seasoned professionals in planning/design, engineering, finance and project management with shared values and successes; a team of experts investing and working together. With many completed projects in Toronto, Oshawa, Kingston, Barrie, Guelph and Miami, and eight more currently under development and construction in the GTA, Podium continues to bring new developments to fruition.

What We’re Looking For

Your role as the HR Generalist will be to support the Podium team with the daily functions of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, with a focus on talent acquisition, employee relations, and benefit administration. The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting our employees and managers, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures, and contributing to the overall success of our organization.

Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Develop and implement recruiting strategies to attract top talent, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring candidates.
  • Lead the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into the company.
  • Develop and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards.
  • Manage benefits and GRPS programs, including enrollment, administration, and employee communications.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop annual HR plans and budgets.
  • Handle employee relations issues and provide guidance to managers on resolving conflicts.
  • Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews and compliance with company policies.
  • Administer leaves of absence, as per the ESA and other applicable regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with WSIB regulations and manage related claims and processes.
  • Oversee the management of the HRIS system and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Manage corporate health and safety programs, including training coordination, document administration, and annual program reviews; and oversee Podium’s Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience in employee relations and talent acquisition
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations in Canada
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • HR certification (e.g., CHRP, CHRL) preferred
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Humi) is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Previous construction and/or client service experience is an asset
