Position Description

This key role leads Human Resources in Canada, shaping company culture, developing the workforce, and aligning HR strategies with business goals.

You will provide insights to the Senior Management Team on company strategy from an HR perspective, grounded in your understanding of operations, culture, employee demographics, and current HR trends, including legal, social, demographic, and macroeconomic factors.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee all HR functions: talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and compensation and benefits. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining and improving HR functions to support the company’s strategy, mission, values, and objectives.

This role requires a strategic HR leader with a proven track record, strong interpersonal skills, deep knowledge of Canadian labour laws, and the ability to influence senior management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Create, execute, and oversee HR initiatives aligned with company strategy
  2. Advise senior management on HR trends, legal updates, market dynamics, and socio-economic trends
  3. Implement HR programs, projects, and services, maintaining high service standards
  4. Manage all HR areas: Talent Management, Organizational Development, Performance, Diversity, Training, Recruitment, Compensation, Employee Relations, Safety, Payroll
  5. Drive strategic change initiatives
  6. Lead HR planning, advising on future staffing challenges

Experience

  • 10+ years in HR management roles
  • At least 5 years in senior management
  • 10 years managing Canadian payroll

Qualifications

  • CHRP required, CHRL preferred
  • Certified Payroll Manager is a plus
  • Member of Human Resources Professionals Association
  • Strong communication and people management skills
  • Trustworthy with sensitive information
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Ethical and honest

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience and training
