We are seeking a highly organized and people-focused HR Business Partner to join our team on a 12-month maternity leave contract. This role will support day-to-day HR operations, ensure a seamless employee experience, and contribute to key People & Culture initiatives.
As the HR Business Partner, you’ll serve as a key point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, supporting talent processes, and keeping HR operations running smoothly during this coverage period.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day HR support across onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, and general HR inquiries
Coordinate and support cyclical people programs, including performance reviews, engagement surveys, and compensation planning
Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS system and ensure compliance with local employment legislation
Support benefits administration and liaise with vendors as needed (Canada and/or US)
Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to support hiring processes, interview scheduling, and new hire onboarding
Assist in preparing HR communications and employee documentation (contracts, letters, policy updates, etc.)
Help track and report on HR metrics related to headcount, turnover, and engagement
Contribute to culture-building initiatives, recognition programs, and DEIB efforts
Support the People team with additional tasks and projects as needed during the leave coverage
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in an HR Generalist or People Operations role
Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment standards (Canada required; US is an asset)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience using an HRIS (e.g., BambooHR, Gusto, or similar)
Collaborative and proactive, with a people-first mindset
