Job description

We are looking for a forward thinking, systems savvy HR professional with strong business acumen to join our team for a full time permanent role as an HR Business Partner.

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) worksas an internal advisor with assigned business units and drives initiatives that impact talent management, talent acquisition, performance, employee relations, legislative adherence and participates in special projects. As a trusted advisor, the HRBP provides coaching and counsel to leaders on human resources solutions that support the goals of the business unit.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following :

  • Proactively partners with leaders to identify and understand people issues specific to the business unit and provides advice and expertise to developbusiness strategies,solutions and action plans that support the achievement of current and changing needs and objectives of the business and organization
  • Acts as an advisor by providing advice guidance and / or coaching on sensitive, confidential and complex HR issues in a unionized environment,ensuring compliance with Atlantic Packaging policies, Employment Standards and other regulatory employment and human rights requirements
  • Provides advice and guidance on career growth, managing performance, succession planning, employee / labour relations issues, compensation and policies and procedures.
  • Conducts investigations and resolves sensitive employee issues and complaints.
  • Sources, recruits and screens candidates in a timely and cost effective way. Develops job specifications with hiring manager, recommends most appropriate methods / resources for sourcing candidates, screens prospective candidates (internal and external), implements testing and assessments and supports closure of process (references, offers).
  • Meet requirements and implements in a timely and cost effective way.
  • Partner with Corporate H&S on health and safety programs and training initiatives for the business unit.
  • Manages the implementation, and administration of HR systems including process improvements, training and maintenance.

The ideal candidate [preference is to have a candidate from a manufacturing environment] :

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent work experience
  • CHRP or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of relevant human resources experience
  • Sound knowledge of all HR disciplines including performance management, recruitment, employee / labour relations, learning and development, talent management, compensation
  • Experience in supporting HR systems
  • Ability to build strong and collaborative relationships across all levels and functions
  • Big picture thinker who brings an innovative and creative approach
  • Strong consultative, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to garner trust and provide sound counsel and coaching
  • Collaborative, proactive and results oriented
  • Strong presentation and group facilitation skills
