Our Client, a Banking company, is looking for an HR Analyst I for their Toronto, ON/Hybrid location.
Responsibilities:
- Balance all year-end tax slips and complete year-end government filings.
- Support expatriate assignments and some globally mobile employees.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Provide customized payroll and year-end tax slip support for the CEO and Senior Executive Team.
- Manage end-to-end Board of Directors’ payrolls.
- Identify, review, and prepare POIs for reconciliation as needed.
- Review and correct taxes from the Retiree Demographic report and the US Tax Data Query.
- Respond to and resolve inquiries regarding payroll issues from all levels within the bank using various data retrieval methods.
- Make process improvement recommendations and assist in planning and implementing solutions.
- Act as a brand champion for the business area/function and the bank, both internally and externally.
- Ensure the integrity of the Workday HR/Payroll data, including testing and validation.
- Assist in preparing manual and amended tax slips.
- Support payroll accounting year-end data processing to ensure accuracy.
- Recommend and implement process changes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage adjustments and resolutions with business partners as needed.
- Process quarterly Director Fees payroll.
- Handle manual off-cycle processing and EIB data loads.
- Process bi-weekly cheque reversals.
- Run and act on Pier/Variance reports to correct data errors and ensure accurate year-end tax slips.
- Perform other tasks as required.
- Manage daily administrative processes for expatriate payroll.
- Support shadow payroll processing.
- Balance payroll tax slip boxes.
- Provide timely resolutions to inquiries from internal and external partners.
- Review and validate annual PIER reports from CRA and RQ.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation (or working towards it).
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Federal/Provincial and U.S. payroll regulations (CRA, Revenu Quebec, IRS).
- Experience with Workday, especially in Year-end processes, resolution management, and Pier/Variance report reconciliation.
- Experience with in-house Payroll HRIS System, specifically Workday.
- Proficient in legislative updates related to payroll.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and supporting business operations.
- Effective communication and strong analytical skills.
