Job description

Key Media is looking for an experienced and energetic HR Advisor/Office Manager to manage people and culture initiatives across North America and the UK. Join our dynamic team and contribute to a thriving and global business environment. (This role will be offered on a contract basis to cover a maternity leave).

Life at Key Media

At Key Media, we pride ourselves on creating and delivering outstanding content across our global B2B media brands in legal, HR, safety, insurance, mortgage, and finance sectors. We connect, educate, inspire, and reward business professionals worldwide, ensuring they thrive and grow in their respective fields.

Role Overview

As our HR Advisor, you'll be pivotal in enhancing our collaborative 'orange energy' culture. You will look after employee relations, onboarding, performance management, and talent development for our teams in Canada, the USA, and the UK. You will be working with journalists, salespeople and other media professionals in a global environment.

As the sole HR team member in North America, you'll be a versatile professional, equally adept at organizing office parties, coordinating onboarding, and managing DEI activities. There is a bit of office management involved as well.

Location and Working Hours

This position is based in our vibrant downtown Toronto office with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to balance both personal and professional commitments effectively.

The role reports into Sydney, Australia, so we are looking for someone who can operate independently and who will be available for occasional calls during the evenings. For the initial training period, you would be working a later shift.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days of work in our downtown Toronto office. Given the office-based days, it's preferable for you to live close to downtown Toronto.

The role could be carried out on a full time or part time basis (working Monday to Thursday), and we are open to applications for both options.

Ideal Candidate

You are a dedicated HR professional with at least 3 years of experience as an HR Business Partner. You possess a tertiary qualification in HR and have a proven track record in driving positive employee engagement and managing change. Excellent communication skills and a good sense of humor are essential. Experience in M&A, media, or international HR will be advantageous. You will be able to demonstrate experience and understanding of Canadian employment law - additionally US and UK employment law would be advantageous.
