Job description

HR Advisor for provincial government agency client, downtown Toronto.

Marberg Job Number : 2637.

Job Type : Temporary.

Initial Term : August 11, 2025 to December 19 2025, with possible extension.

Compensation : $46.70 per hour.

Regular Work Hours : 7.0 hours per day not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).

Work Location : Hybrid - combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client's downtown Toronto office. Onsite work expectations subject always to client business requirements, and may change according to client business need.

Responsibilities Summary :

Work closely with Senior HR Business Partner to deliver range of HR programs and services, including Client Advisory, Talent Acquisition, Disability Management, HR Information and Data, and additional HR projects and initiatives as required.

  • Respond to employee and management inquiries. Provide accurate, complete and timely information on scope and application of HR policies, programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain recruitment, position control and workforce data. Track performance indicators and metrics and provide analytical reports to support workforce planning activities. Conduct research, gather data, collect and summarize background information and develop briefing and presentation materials in support of HR programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of HR client support services.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment and staffing activities. Support Senior HR Business Partners and HR Management with recruitment for complex roles, including executive level.
  • Engage with hiring managers to develop recruitment and sourcing strategies, pre-screen candidates, prepare interview materials and offer letters and conduct pre-employment checks.
  • Maintain resume databases and candidate pools, interface with search firms and advertising agencies and monitor social, professional and networking websites to facilitate candidate sourcing and selection.
  • Communicate benefit policy, process and role expectations; respond to questions, and exercise judgement to identify claim risks, irregularities or escalate complex or contentious issues.
  • Coordinate disability claims, including monitoring and communicating claim updates between employee, manager, payroll and external claim management provider.
  • Coordinate Health & Safety and AODA committee work and project activities. Ensure seamless completion of agenda action items and distribution of supporting documentation as required.
  • Coordinate Student Employment Programs, and provide input on program enhancement initiatives.
  • Additional HR program advisory responsibilities as required.

Qualifications :

Education : Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in a Human Resources Management.

Professional Credentials : CHRP or CHRL designation completed or in view.

Preferred Work Experience : At least 5+ years of progressive experience in human resources management, with a focus on recruitment and disability management.

Preferred Sector Experience : Financial Sector, Public Sector or Regulatory Sector experience preferred.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements :

  • Demonstrated strong proficiency with Workday HRIS.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency with MS Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, One Drive and Teams.
  • Expert level English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes :

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian and Ontario employment legislation, with experience interpreting and applying this legislation within context of human resources policies and programs.
  • Experience performing full cycle recruitment, including proficiency in Applicant Tracking System (ATS) systems and coordinating with external recruitment agencies, as needed.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex disability claims management, including return to work plans and accommodation requests.
  • Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines.
  • Proficient de-escalation skills. Excellent listening skills, and the ability to provide and receive effective feedback.
  • Proven ability to respond to sensitive and confidential matters with tact, discretion, and excellent judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
  • Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting / advisory skills.
  • Demonstratedabilitytoworkwell bothindependently andcollaboratively, and in an advisory capacity,and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and externalstakeholders.
  • Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with otherswithin a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Availablefor a virtual interview with our client between July 24-28 2025.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to promptly provide 3 recent, qualified employment references promptly upon request, who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory Provincial Government security check prior to assignment start.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Additional Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
