The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, HR Operations and Health & Safety with a dotted line to the Manager, Performance and Learning, the Human Resources Advisor will appeal to candidates with a passion for ongoing growth and development, who have a strategic and continuous improvement mindset, and have a genuine interest in both working closely with the business and supporting the organization’s learning agenda. Being able to manage a variety of tasks in a fast paced, dynamic environment will be essential for success.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Provide HR business partner support to people leaders in areas such as talent management, employee and labour relations, recruitment, HR processes, performance management and development action planning
  • Lead research and sharing of Human Resources and Labour Relations best practices across the HR community
  • Leverage the use of data to track, maintain, uncover trends, and report plant-specific labour and employee relations data and metrics
  • Build, support and maintain presentation material for various HR related strategic initiatives
  • In partnership with people leaders, identify priorities for assigned functions and develop appropriate plans to close gaps
  • Assist, coach and support people leaders in determining appropriate conflict resolution and performance management techniques for their employees
  • Partner with leaders to identify future talent needs and play an active role in the recruitment and selection process
  • Participate and drive various strategic HR and Labour Relations initiatives to improve service and/or efficiencies
  • Identify training and development opportunities for employees within assigned client group
  • Support systems activities related to the Human Resources Information System (SAP) and Talent Management systems; ensure people movement (new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers etc.) are flawlessly executed in SAP
  • Help develop, coordinate and facilitate training initiatives to promote ongoing learning and development
  • Support the life cycle of learning programs, including coordinating participants, logistics, and facilitating content where necessary.
  • Develop and execute engaging training communications for campaigns, calendars, and individual stakeholders to increase awareness and demand for our programming.
  • Design and develop effective and engaging content and materials, employing recognized adult learning principles.
  • Interact with vendors to ensure programming is relevant and meets our objectives.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to ensure the successful delivery of content and/or key programs.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3+ years HR experience with post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • 1+ years of experience supporting the life cycle of learning programs, including needs assessments, design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience practicing Human Resources in a unionized manufacturing/operations environment
  • Knowledge of HR trends, best practices, and provincial and federal labour legislation
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience preparing presentation material
  • Track record of building effective and collaborative relationships
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills
  • Action oriented with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where initiative is essential
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Open and willing to embrace technology and innovation
  • Strategic outlook with experience leading projects and initiatives and action planning
  • Comfortable in fast-paced settings demanding a high level of efficiency and urgency
  • Practiced in handling confidential issues in a discretionary and sensitive manner
  • Ability to travel to the various plants/locations as required
