About This Opportunity

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the primary objective of the Human Resources Advisor is to provide a full spectrum of Human Resources support services to the business unit in the areas of recruitment, on/off-boarding, employee relations, compliance, performance management and all HR programs.

When Your Actions Lead To Success

  1. Provide advisory and administrative support to the HR Manager and all levels of the Operating Unit for all HR related matters and business initiatives;
  2. Support with the full cycle recruitment process for internal and external positions including creating job postings, screening resumes, scheduling and participation in interviews, facilitation of background and reference checks, drafting of employment offers and new hire forms;
  3. Support with the new hire onboarding process (documentation & training) for all new hires;
  4. Advise and coach managers and supervisors on HR related policies, best practices, leadership skills and employee relation issues;
  5. Manage the administration of employee status changes and amendment paperwork throughout the year;
  6. Assist the HR Manager with any workforce planning and compensation review initiatives;
  7. Participate in coaching, discipline and investigation meetings and draft any letters or documentation as required;
  8. Prepare and deliver training as required as well as maintaining any training records;
  9. Run monthly and ad hoc reports through the HRIS system and Excel;
  10. Assist with the annual/mid-year performance and compensation review process for hourly and salaried employees;
  11. Manage the administration of monthly employee excellence program;
  12. Coordinate internal seminars and workshops in relation to workplace Health and Wellness;
  13. Assist in employee engagement initiatives and actively participate in Social Committee meetings and arrange events through the year in coordination with the committee;
  14. Collect content, pictures/videos of all workplace events and initiatives & help manage social platform engagement (i.e. Instagram);
  15. Build trust and strong relationships with employees by spending time on the production floor;
  16. Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards;
  17. Additional duties as assigned.

When your expertise drives us

  1. Post Secondary Education in Human Resources or related experience;
  2. Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources Generalist role;
  3. Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset;
  4. CHRP designation or working towards completion is an asset;
  5. Hands on experience with HR platforms such as PeopleSoft & Kronos is an asset;
  6. Possess professional knowledge and practical experience of all legislation and legal requirements pertaining to HR functions (Employment Standards Act & Labour laws, Human Rights and AODA, etc.);
  7. Tech savvy & proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite;
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must;
  9. Ability to multi-task in a time sensitive and fast-paced environment;
  10. Strong attention to detail and ability to take ownership of tasks;
  11. Team player and problem solver, with a positive attitude;
  12. Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information;
  13. Ability to work independently with little supervision;
  14. Experience with social media platform (Instagram) is an asset.
