Job description

Join RBR as an HR Admin (6-month contract)!

Are you someone who loves efficiency, thrives in fast-paced environments and is excited to help recruit top talent, support great employee experiences, and take on continuous improvement opportunities? If you're ready to roll up your sleeves, take on new challenges, and make an impact, this could be the role for you.

We're hiring an HR Admin to join our small (but mighty!) HR team on a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension. This role is based on-site, in our Kanata North office.

Why RBR?

We build and design cutting-edge oceanographic instruments right here in Kanata North, Canada’s largest tech park. One of our greatest strengths is our people : bright, helpful, kind, and with a good sense of humour. We're looking for an HR Admin who shares our core values of integrity, teamwork, communication, passion, and respect to help support our growing teams.

As an HR Admin at RBR, you’ll dive into a wide range of HR projects and responsibilities, helping drive a positive, high-performing and supportive culture.

We value passion and potential just as much as experience, so if you’re eager to learn, contribute, and grow with us, we’d love to hear from you!

What you'll do

Onboarding & offboarding : Support a great onboarding experience for new hires, help them hit the ground running, and manage a smooth and efficient offboarding process

HR admin : Keep things running behind the scenes - manage employee records, support our HRIS and benefits programs, and help organize company-wide initiatives

General HR support : Recruitment & talent acquisition, immigration processes, policy and procedure development, compensation and performance reviews, learning and development initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulations

Employee relations : Build rapport with employees, point people in the right direction for resources and support, and help us continue to make RBR a great place to work

Continuous improvement : Things that worked well two years ago might not cut it today - help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, document clear workflows and SOPs, and find smart ways to streamline and automate as we grow

Office / facilities admin support : Lend a hand with front desk coverage, restocking supplies, shared spaces upkeep, or prepping for meetings and events - supporting smooth day-to-day operations wherever needed

What you bring

Passion for efficiency, technology, and supporting people

Exceptional communication skills - you’re comfortable writing clearly and connecting with people across all levels

Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities

Agility under pressure, level-headed when adapting to shifting priorities

A strong understanding of different tech tools and a curiosity to leverage them to the fullest

A continuous learning mindset, keeping up-to-date with the latest HR / business trends and practices

Degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience, as well as good business acumen

Nice to haves

Experience rolling out new systems or automating workflows - for example, implementing an HRIS or introducing tools to streamline processes

Familiarity with tools like Jira / Confluence, ADP, Google Suite, MacOS, ATSs (we use Recruitee), or Gen AI

The RBR mindset

Passion for environmental impact and climate science

Thrives in fast-paced, mission-driven environments

Comfortable with change and ambiguity

Creative and resourceful problem-solver

Enjoys unique challenges and creating innovative solutions

Embraces new technologies, tools, and best practices

20 days of annual vacation, plus a company-wide holiday shutdown and paid sick days

Annual fitness reimbursement program

Greener commuting incentive program (bike-to-work, carpool, or transit passes)

Monthly Friday lunches (on us)!
