Job summary

Comox Valley Transition Society in Courtenay, BC invites applications for a Housing Support Worker. The role offers casual or part-time leading to full-time work with a variety of shifts, including early morning, day, evening, night, and weekends.

Qualifications

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a College/CEGEP education in social work or a related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • Must have MHFA, First Aid, CPR, Cultural Awareness Training, Food Safety, NVCI, and ASIST certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Administer first aid and provide other assistance.
  • Provide suicide and crisis intervention.
  • Resolve conflict situations.
  • Perform housekeeping activities.
  • Strong food safety and handling skills.
  • Assist clients or guests with special needs.
  • Liaise with social service agencies and health care providers involved with clients.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.
  • Manage knowledge effectively.
  • Offer mentoring.

Comox Valley Transition Society, situated at Courtenay, BC V9N 2N5, is seeking applications for the job position of Housing Support Worker who is enthusiastic and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. The selected applicant must join and assume their responsibilities at the earliest. The employer is offering Casual employment or part-time leading to a full-time position. The candidate must be available to work early morning, morning, day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, as well as on a shift basis, with on-call and flexible hours.

  • The candidate must have a Mental Health First Aid Certificate, a First Aid Certificate, a CPR Certificate, a Cultural Awareness Training Certification, a Food Safety Certificate, a Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, and an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Certification.
