Job summary

Family Transition Place is seeking a Support Within Housing Counsellor to coordinate a program for women with housing needs and mental health supports. You will screen, orient, discharge, and refer residents, while providing crisis intervention and individual advocacy in a compassionate team setting.

You will collaborate with SHIP staff, support daily living activities, and help residents achieve personal and career goals, contributing to a safe and stable housing environment.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education in the Social Service field or related area.
• Eligible for registration with a Counselling/Social Work focused college or regulatory body.
• No prior violations or breaches of professional practice standards.
• Knowledge of violence against women, mental health and housing issues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate screening, intake and discharge for housing program units.
• Provide supportive counselling, transitional support and crisis management.
• Facilitate group and peer support and assist residents with personal and career goals.
• Develop and maintain community referrals and liaison with SHIP staff and partners.
• Ensure residents receive necessary supports and participate in program activities.
