Job summary

The Housing Manager at Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government leads the Housing Program, directing operations, tenancy administration and policy implementation within the Maa-nulth context.

Reporting to the Director of Capital Infrastructure & Asset Management, the role supervises the Housing Coordinator and Tenant Relations Coordinator, manages budgets, and collaborates with Finance and external funders to deliver housing projects across hitac̓u, BC.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Public Administration, Business, Housing Management, Social Sciences or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in housing, property management or tenancy administration, including supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of BC Residential Tenancy Act and its application in First Nations contexts.
  • Experience administering budgets and coordinating with finance on reporting and reconciliation.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Housing Program, including allocations, tenancy administration, rent collection and arrears management.
  • Manage housing stock related to Government Rental housing; oversee allocations, condition assessments and lifecycle planning.
  • Ensure fair, culturally appropriate service to homeowners and tenants.
  • Supervise the Housing Coordinator and Tenant Relations Coordinator; set priorities and coach performance.
  • Liaise with coordinating staff on building condition, lifecycle planning and emergency response.
  • Coordinate with Finance on budget development, monthly reporting and arrears follow-up.
  • Monitor operating and capital budgets; report variances and recommend actions.
  • Ensure policy reflects BC Residential Tenancy Act standards as adapted to Maa-nulth context.
  • Draft policy recommendations for review by Director and Housing Committee.
  • Provide guidance on tenancy matters, dispute resolution and compliance.
  • Represent the Housing Program in interdepartmental and funder meetings; support capital projects.
