Job summary

Family Services Windsor-Essex Counselling and Advocacy Centre is seeking a Housing Outreach Worker to join the Housing team in Leamington. The role focuses on outreach, client assessments, and securing housing solutions for individuals and families in need.

You will build partnerships with landlords, coordinate services, and provide resources and referrals while documenting all activities and ensuring smooth referrals to Housing First or related programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in case management.
  • Knowledge of Windsor Essex County community programs and services.
  • Strong conflict resolution, communication and advocacy skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and own vehicle.
  • Experience in housing, homelessness, mental illness, or drug use preferred.
  • Experience with vulnerable individuals is an asset.
  • French language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to identify homeless individuals needing assistance and add them to BNPL via CACI.
  • Meet potential clients, assess needs, and determine housing responses.
  • Provide resources and referrals to address immediate needs.
  • Conduct housing searches and build inventory of available units.
  • Liaise with property managers, landlords, and realtors to secure placements.
  • Engage clients to secure housing, deposits, income assistance, utilities, leases, furnishings.
  • Ensure warm transfers to Housing First or other programs.
  • Document all activities.
  • Offer support to the ECH2 and Outreach Coordinator.

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Outreach Worker to join our dynamic Housing team. If you’re passionate about helping others and thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment, we invite you to bring your skills to a team that values innovation, compassion, and community impact.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Conduct outreach efforts to identify and connect with homeless individuals that require assistance. Once identified, add individuals to the BNPL through the communities coordinated access initiative.
  • Meet with potential clients, assess, and determine the appropriate housing response to an individual’s or a family’s request for support services and accommodations to resolve their housing needs.
  • Provide resources and referrals to individuals or families that assist with problem solving and address immediate needs.
  • Conduct housing searches and build inventory lists of available housing units for candidates.
  • Liaise with property managers, landlords, realtors, and other sources to identify and secure vacant properties for client placement.
  • Assertively engage with clients to secure housing including unit rental, damage deposits, securing income assistance if required, setting up of utilities, signing of leases, and arranging for furnishings and household items to establish their homes.
  • Ensure appropriate warm transfers to Housing First or other agency support teams/programs.
  • Document all activities.
  • Provide support as needed to the ECH2 and Outreach Coordinator.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, or related field
  • 2 years’ experience in case management
  • Knowledge of community programs and services in Windsor Essex County is Essential
  • Excellent conflict resolution, communication, and advocacy skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and use of your own vehicle
  • 2 years’ experience in the field of housing and homelessness, mental illness, or drug use preferred
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals is an asset
  • French language skills would be considered an asset

Position Details
  • Job Type: Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Pay Rate: $50,108 per annum. ($27.53/hr)
  • Location: 215 Talbot Street East, Leamington
