Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership & Team Development :

  • Foster a positive and productive work environment within a multi-cultural setting.
  • Effectively communicate with all shift associates and work groups, providing information and instruction as needed to address problems and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Apply company policies, associate handbook guidelines, disciplinary procedures, and hiring processes as needed.
  • Manage staff scheduling to meet production needs, including breaks, job rotations, and shift assignments within a multi-shift environment. Provide line relief as needed.

Safety Leadership :

  • Champion a zero-injury work culture by actively promoting and enforcing all Health & Safety and GMP protocols. Serve as a role model for safe work practices.
  • Ensure the presence of at least two trained first aid attendees per shift.
  • In emergency evacuations, prioritize employee safety by ensuring equipment shutdown (when possible) and coordinating the evacuation.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe working environment, holding employees accountable for safety performance.
  • Foster an organization-wide commitment to employee health and safety through front-line involvement, education, empowerment, and change management.
  • Actively participate in safety audits, hazard identification, and corrective actions, promoting preventative approaches.
  • Conduct timely and accurate accident investigations and implement necessary follow-up actions.

Production Management :

  • Drive key performance indicators (KPIs) for the area of responsibility (line speeds, efficiency, waste, labor costs, compliance to schedule, etc.).
  • Monitor performance measurements and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Verify the production line setup (from formula screen to packaging) at the start of each product run and during changeovers.
  • Follow the production process through each station (mixing to packaging) at start-up and product changeovers.
  • Supervise machinery, equipment, and tools, promptly reporting defects to maintenance and QA. Ensure defective items are removed from service.
  • Optimize product changeovers by providing sufficient time for packaging coordinators and QA to complete necessary setup and checks, preventing errors.
  • Ensure proper completion of deviation reports and follow up on corrective actions. Enforce that temporary repairs require QA approval.
  • Oversee end-of-shift cleanup and shift change management.
  • Document and maintain accurate records related to associate performance, product quality, daily reconciliation, health and safety, production reports, and payroll.

Quality Assurance :

  • Work in partnership with the Quality Assurance department to prevent and resolve quality issues. Ensure adherence to all quality requirements, including GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, specifications, etc.
  • Collaborate with QA to maintain superior product quality and adherence to food safety standards.
  • Ensure all food safety, quality, and labeling checks are performed during product changeovers.

Efficiency and Optimization :

  • Review daily production wage cost reports to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Complete daily wage cost and DPR reports and submit them electronically at the end of each shift.
  • Manage time zone edits for production employees including overages on breaks.
  • Actively participate in and lead the implementation and execution of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Encourage that English is the primary language spoken in the plant.
  • Direct key personnel to dedicate 5-10 minutes at the end of each shift to review documentation and perform housekeeping duties.
