Housekeeping Manager

We are currently hiring for a Housekeeping Manager (Executive Housekeeper) at our Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre in Thunder Bay, ON. The Housekeeping Manager oversees all aspects of the housekeeping department, including guest rooms, public areas, and laundry services. The ideal candidate will be a motivating leader, providing direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team, with a passion for cleanliness, style, and design.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Operations, responsibilities include:

  1. Managing daily housekeeping operations
  2. Enforcing hotel standards, policies, and procedures
  3. Motivating and mentoring staff
  4. Identifying and providing staff training
  5. Managing departmental budget and expenses
  6. Leading health and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with WHMIS, WSIB, OHSA
  7. Maintaining confidentiality and security of guest information and hotel property
  8. Developing and maintaining cleaning standards and inspection procedures
  9. Overseeing deep cleaning schedules and inspection of guestrooms and public areas
  10. Implementing procedures to improve labor efficiency and safety
  11. Performing duties as needed, including serving as "manager on duty"
Qualifications
  • Experience managing housekeeping in a hotel or similar setting
  • Post-secondary education in Tourism or Hospitality is a plus
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to details
  • Physical ability to perform job duties
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Interpersonal skills to engage with guests, vendors, and team members
  • Experience in financial management and unionized environments is an asset
  • A positive attitude and flexible availability for shifts
