A historic landmark dating back to 1908, The Barnes Union Square Hotel is a guest's urban retreat paired with refined elegance. Located by San Francisco's Union Square, right across from the famous Powell Street Cable Car, you will easily get to work via BART and witness the Bay's daily hustle and bustle.

Compensation: $24/$26 per hour

Job Overview:

To supervise, direct, assist, and assure the completion of housekeeping tasks assigned to room attendants and housepersons in guest rooms and corridors to maintain high standards of cleanliness. To supervise and assist with all housekeeping activities as assigned.

Essential Functions:
  • Visually inspect VIP rooms, guest rooms, and corridors for cleanliness and appearance. Prepare work orders for carpet shampooers and supply room attendants to maintain stock.
  • Train and monitor performance of room attendants and housepersons. Provide guidance, instruction, and counseling, and ensure high standards of quality. Prepare performance reports and ensure all jobs are completed within the shift. Prepare P.M. Room Status Report.
  • Take inventories of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies. Keep carts and linen/supply closets clean, neat, and stocked. Ensure VIP supplies are in place during inspections.
  • Report maintenance deficiencies via work orders. Report emergencies such as overflowing toilets or broken pipes to maintenance immediately.
  • Expedite special guest requests, such as extra towels, blankets, or pillows.
Related Functions:
  • Assist with securing supplies and tools needed for housekeeping tasks, using the left hand for grasping and repetitive motions.
  • Report suspicious persons or hazardous conditions to Security.
  • Respond to guest questions and provide assistance, directions, and information.
  • Guide guest and employee safety procedures during emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting Room Attendants when necessary.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations, including:

  • Ability to lift, reach, bend, and push or pull heavy equipment using the left side only.
  • Ability to read and write English for completing reports.
  • Ability to give clear instructions and guidance.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Exercise judgment and oversee subordinate performance.
Physical Demands:

Includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and frequently using the left side, involving sitting, walking, and standing for brief periods.

Environmental Conditions:

Primarily inside work, protected from weather but not temperature changes, spending about 75% or more of time indoors.

  • Attendance is essential; irregular attendance may lead to disciplinary action.
  • Varying schedules may be required due to industry cycles.
  • Compliance with all safety and operational rules is mandatory.
  • Employees must maintain a neat and groomed appearance.
