Job summary

Cogir Immobilier is seeking a Flight Operations Engineer to join the System Engineering Department in Montreal. The role involves defining, developing, and executing constellation operations procedures for satellite missions, with on-site Montreal preferred and remote or hybrid options for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include trade-off studies, development of in-orbit operation procedures and manuals, training oversight, procedure verification, and support for IOT and anomaly

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering in a relevant field.
• At least 7 years of experience in satellite operations.
• Experience with LEO/MEO SatOps.
• Experience with automated satellite operations and IOT.
• Knowledge of Flight Software in operations and telemetry structures.

Role

As part of the System Engineering Department, the Flight Operations Engineer will participate, and coordinate the work needed for the definition, development and execution of the constellation operations, and the preparations, implementation, testing and verification of the operations procedures.

Tasks

The Satellite Flight-Operations engineer will perform and participate in the following tasks and activities, depending on the background and experience of the candidate.

• Trade-off studies regarding the design, develop and testing of the satellite/constellation operations procedures.
• Development of Spacecraft In-Orbit Operations Procedures and oversight of their execution and associated trainings.
• Development of Satellite Operation Manuals, test procedures and oversight of their execution and associated trainings.
• Verification & Validation Matrices of the operations procedures for on-orbit commissioning, routine, and contingency operations of the mission.
• Support In-Orbit Test (IOT), anomaly resolution + FDIR.
• Support the Satellite Simulator Operation and script development.

Must haves

• Bachelor's degree in engineering in a relevant field
• At least 7 years of experience
• Previous experience with LEO/MEO SatOps.
• Experience with automated satellite operations and IOT
• Experience in concepts of space and ground segment design, specification and integration, knowledge of Flight Software role in operations, Satellite Database Operations concept and telemetry structure concepts.
• Knowledge in Python or other scripting languages

Complementary skills/knowledge

• AG1's Systems Tool Kit (STK)
• Requirements Management tools such as DOORS/Windchill/Jama
• Previous experience in Constellation Operations
• The design, development and testing of new automated operations flows and scripts.
• Experience creating or using models and/or simulation software.
• Demonstrated capability to efficiently work with little to no supervision
• Strong written and verbal communications skills in English, knowledge of French will be considered favorably
