MANNARINO Systems & Software Inc. is seeking a Satellite C&DH System Engineer to support design, integration, verification, and operation of onboard command, control, and data management for satellite programs.

The role requires leading trade studies, architectural definitions, and collaboration across TT&C, Ground Segment, and Flight Software teams to ensure end-to-end data integrity and mission success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of C&DH engineering on LEO/MEO/GEO satellites.
• Knowledge of SpaceWire, MIL-1553, CAN, Ethernet, CCSDS telemetry/telecommand, and PUS.
• Experience with integration, testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
• Fluency in English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Translate mission-level requirements into C&DH functional and non-functional specifications.
• Lead design of onboard processors, data buses, memory subsystems, and I/O interfaces.
• Develop verification plans, test matrices, and validation procedures for C&DH testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with customers, partners, and suppliers.

Career Opportunity and Primary Roles / Responsibilities

We are seeking a Satellite C&DH System Engineer to support the design, integration, verification, and operation of onboard command, control, and data management functions for current and next-generation remote sensing and communications satellite programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the C&DH functional architecture, lead trade studies, and provide technical leadership throughout the spacecraft lifecycle.

Architecture Concept & Requirements

• Translate mission-level requirements into C&DH functional and non-functional specifications.
• Produce System Requirements, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and System Description Documents.
• Perform requirements management and maintain bidirectional traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement resilience and security-by-design principles.

Design & Development

• Lead the detailed design of onboard processors, data buses (SpaceWire, MIL-1553, CAN, Ethernet), memory subsystems, and I/O interfaces.
• Support software architecture activities including command sequencing, telemetry packetization, health monitoring, onboard services, and fault detection, isolation and recovery (FDIR).
• Support Satellite Reference Database development and validation.

Cross-Functional Coordination, Stakeholder & Program Interaction

• Communicate technical status, risk assessments, and trade study results to stakeholders, customers, and partners.
• Collaborate with Flight Software teams to define RTOS configuration, APIs, task scheduling, and service utilization.
• Define uplink command formatting, downlink telemetry packet structures, and ground segment data-handling interfaces.
• Coordinate with TT&C/PDT and Ground Segment teams to ensure end-to-end data integrity.
• Support proposal and early-phase project activities (Phase 0 and Pre-Phase A).

Integration & Verification (IVV)

• Develop verification plans, test matrices, and validation procedures for unit, subsystem, and spacecraft-level C&DH testing.
• Execute functional testing, bus protocol compliance testing, SIL and HIL validation campaigns.
• Lead anomaly investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor and guide junior engineers and interns.
• Act as a technical liaison with customers, partners, and external suppliers.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to engineering standards, knowledge sharing, and process improvement activities.

Configuration, Documentation & Standards Management

• Develop and maintain C&DH standards, including bus protocols, data format conventions, and redundancy policies.
• Ensure all engineering artefacts, analyses, and documentation are maintained under configuration control within the PLM environment.
• Support design reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, and TRR.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and innovation initiatives.

On-Orbit & Operations Support

• Support launch, pre-launch, and early-orbit checkout activities.
• Validate satellite functionality, housekeeping telemetry, and nominal operations.
• Support the analysis of on-orbit telemetry and update system parameters as required.
• Support operations concept development and operator training activities.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of C&DH engineering experience on LEO, MEO, and/or GEO satellite platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of spacecraft data bus standards including SpaceWire, MIL-1553, CAN, Ethernet, CCSDS telemetry and telecommand protocols, and PUS services.
• Knowledge of processors, FPGA technologies, firmware, and embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of aerospace systems engineering fundamentals, the space environment, and orbital mechanics.
• Hands-on experience supporting system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
• Experience using Confluence and Jira.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex technical challenges and develop practical solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
