Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe environment for residents, following infection control principles.
• Clean, disinfect, polish, and dust residents’ rooms, offices, and common areas, including furniture, closets, windows, walls, floors, shower and tub rooms, washrooms, reception, and break rooms.
• Perform routine, deep, terminal, and discharge cleaning, floor maintenance, and waste management as scheduled.
• Dust window ledges, door frames, and closets; clean glass and surfaces regularly.
• Vacuum carpets and clean washrooms thoroughly.
• Disinfect and polish tubs, sinks, taps, toilets, and mirrors.
• Wash floors with germicidal solutions; clean grout regularly.
• Daily dusting and mopping of lounge and dining areas; clean up after meals.
• Handle laundry for residents, including personal clothing and linens, and follow up on lost items.
• Clean staff lockers, volunteers, and staff rest rooms.
• Sweep stairwells weekly; empty garbage and change liners.
• Clean wheelchairs and care for cleaning equipment per procedures.
• Manage inventory of laundry supplies and communicate with charge nurses regarding linens and clothing.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are ready before starting duties.
• Perform duties professionally within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment.
• Ability to read and understand instructions in English.
• Physical stamina for cleaning tasks.
• Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
• Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
• Experience in housekeeping roles in long-term care or with elderly is an asset.
