Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles.
  • Clean, disinfect, polish, and dust residents’ rooms, offices, and common areas, including furniture, closets, windows, walls, floors, shower and tub rooms, washrooms, reception area, and break rooms.
  • Perform routine, deep, terminal, and discharge cleaning, floor maintenance, and waste management according to schedules.
  • Dust window ledges, door frames, and closets; clean glass and surfaces as needed.
  • Vacuum carpets, clean washrooms, disinfect fixtures, wash floors, and mop lounge and dining areas.
  • Handle laundry for residents, including personal clothing and linens, and manage reports of lost clothing.
  • Clean staff lockers, volunteer and staff rooms, stairwells, and empty garbage.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, monitor inventory, and communicate with supervisors regarding supplies and special care needs.
  • Carry out duties professionally within a multidisciplinary team.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Adherence to departmental policies on quality assurance, safety, environment, and infection control.
  • Participation in meetings and in-service education.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with cleaning products and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions in English.
  • Physical stamina for cleaning tasks.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Experience in housekeeping in long-term care or with the elderly is an asset.
