Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Thornbury, Ontario is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Aide. You will support residents by cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment during the 7am–3pm shift.

This full-time role reports to the Environmental Service Manager and emphasizes attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork in a long-term care setting. You may assist with laundry and linens as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Detail-oriented, confidential, and professional.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and reach, bend, lift and pull.
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchen, and dining areas.
• Vacuum and clean floors, dust surfaces, and tidy rooms.
• Remove and replace linens, bedspreads, and blankets.
• Wash and stock towels, washcloths, and hand towels in bathrooms.
• Fold laundry and put away as needed.
• Pick up and empty trash containers; notify maintenance if needed.

Reports to: Environmental Service Manager

The Housekeeping Aide provides support to the residence by, cleaning and sanitizing to ensure that our Residents are living in the best environment possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean - Perform general cleaning and sanitizing tasks throughout the assigned property. Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchen, and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, glasses, pots and pans. Wipe and dust surfaces in rooms and clean mirrors. Vacuum and clean floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes. Remove and replace linens, bedspreads, and blankets.
• Stock - Wash and stock all towels, washcloths, and hand towels in bathrooms. Fold laundry and put away as needed.
• Other - Pick up and empty trash containers. Load washer and dryer as needed. If applicable, notify maintenance if something is not working correctly.

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
