Job description

Our client, a leader in Health Care Facilities provision, has multiple openings for Care Support Assistants across various locations in Ontario. These roles can be full-time, part-time, or contract.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Housekeeping Aide performs general housekeeping activities within established guidelines related to health and safety, infection control, quality management, and organizational standards. As a valued team member, the Housekeeping Aide demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with the organization’s vision and mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide all aspects of environmental cleaning in assigned areas.
  2. Ensure daily neatness and cleanliness of residents’ rooms, offices, and common areas following standardized procedures, including cleaning furniture, closets, windows, walls, floors, bathrooms, reception, and break rooms.
  3. Prepare rooms for new occupants to ensure they are ready at all times.
  4. Maintain infection control by using specified cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing agents.
  5. Understand operational policies and procedures regarding quality improvement, safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
  6. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, team discussions, and mandatory training sessions.
  7. Support quality initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  8. Check supply levels and equipment functionality daily, report shortages or issues to the manager.
  9. Handle garbage disposal safely and hygienically.
  10. Manage stock and supplies upon delivery.
  11. Perform routine, deep, terminal, and discharge cleaning, including floor maintenance and waste management.
  12. Participate in orientation and performance management processes.
  13. Complete monthly audits as assigned.
  14. Understand and interpret MOHLTC legislation, regulations, and processes.
  15. Contribute to compliance efforts by implementing systems and processes.
  16. Respect residents’ Bill of Rights and maintain privacy during cleaning duties.
  17. Follow health and safety policies in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  18. Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Current WHMIS Certificate.
  2. Previous housekeeping experience required.
  3. Experience in institutional cleaning or laundry in a long-term care setting is desirable.
  4. Knowledge of infection control, cleaning practices, and equipment.
  5. Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions in English.
  6. Effective communication skills with residents and team members.
  7. Strong customer service skills.
  8. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
EDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Interaction with residents of diverse backgrounds.
  2. Combination of natural and fluorescent lighting.
  3. Exposure to outdoor elements.
  4. Variable temperatures, hot and cold.
  5. Manual handling including lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  6. Short periods of crouching, kneeling, and bending.
  7. Frequent walking and stair climbing.
  8. Long periods of standing.
  9. Participation in therapy programs such as pet therapy, spiritual, and musical therapy.
