Our client, a leader in Health Care Facilities provision, has multiple openings for Care Support Assistants across various locations in Ontario. These roles can be full-time, part-time, or contract.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Housekeeping Aide performs general housekeeping activities within established guidelines related to health and safety, infection control, quality management, and organizational standards. As a valued team member, the Housekeeping Aide demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with the organization’s vision and mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide all aspects of environmental cleaning in assigned areas.
- Ensure daily neatness and cleanliness of residents’ rooms, offices, and common areas following standardized procedures, including cleaning furniture, closets, windows, walls, floors, bathrooms, reception, and break rooms.
- Prepare rooms for new occupants to ensure they are ready at all times.
- Maintain infection control by using specified cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing agents.
- Understand operational policies and procedures regarding quality improvement, safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, team discussions, and mandatory training sessions.
- Support quality initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Check supply levels and equipment functionality daily, report shortages or issues to the manager.
- Handle garbage disposal safely and hygienically.
- Manage stock and supplies upon delivery.
- Perform routine, deep, terminal, and discharge cleaning, including floor maintenance and waste management.
- Participate in orientation and performance management processes.
- Complete monthly audits as assigned.
- Understand and interpret MOHLTC legislation, regulations, and processes.
- Contribute to compliance efforts by implementing systems and processes.
- Respect residents’ Bill of Rights and maintain privacy during cleaning duties.
- Follow health and safety policies in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current WHMIS Certificate.
- Previous housekeeping experience required.
- Experience in institutional cleaning or laundry in a long-term care setting is desirable.
- Knowledge of infection control, cleaning practices, and equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions in English.
- Effective communication skills with residents and team members.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent.
