Job summary

Bayfield Manor Retirement Home, under Southbridge Care Homes, seeks a Housekeeping Aide in Kemptville, Ontario. This casual vacancy runs 8am–4pm, with duties focusing on cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining a safe, comfortable residence for residents.

You will report to the Environmental Service Manager and support daily operations by cleaning, stocking supplies, and handling laundry tasks, while adhering to safety and infection-control standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Detail-oriented, confidential, and professional.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at times.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and reach, bend, lift and pull.
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Clean – Perform general cleaning and sanitizing tasks throughout the property.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchen, and dining areas.
• Wash dishes, utensils, glasses, pots and pans; wipe and dust surfaces; vacuum and clean floors.
• Remove and replace linens, bedspreads, and blankets.
• Stock towels, washcloths, and hand towels in bathrooms; fold laundry and put away as needed.
• Load washer and dryer as needed; notify maintenance if something is not working correctly.

Reports to: Environmental Service Manager

The Housekeeping Aide provides support to the residence by, cleaning and sanitizing to ensure that our Residents are living in the best environment possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean – Perform general cleaning and sanitizing tasks throughout the assigned property. Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchen, and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, glasses, pots and pans. Wipe and dust surfaces in rooms and clean mirrors. Vacuum and clean floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes. Remove and replace linens, bedspreads, and blankets.
• Stock – Wash and stock all towels, washcloths, and hand towels in bathrooms. Fold laundry and put away as needed.
• Other – Pick up and empty trash containers. Load washer and dryer as needed. If applicable, notify maintenance if something is not working correctly.

Additional Requirements Include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
